Im not really sure whats going on here so I will describe the problem the best I can.  When one round is fired the gun wont extract the old cartride however most of the time the gun with go mostly back into battery with the fired round, and sometimes it will go fully into battery.  Also when I rack the slide manually it fell eject and feed the rounds without problems so I dont think it is an extractor issue.  Im thinking that the slide isnt recoiling all the way do to a bad recoil spring but the hammer is in the ready position after every malfunction, so it seems like the spring is working alright.  Just not sure what the problem is.  Hopefully you guys can help me out, if any clarification is needed let me know.

Thanks Jon

WHat size [bbl length] of 1911? Sounds like a bad extractor that is slipping over the rim of the empty case plus [I'd bet] a short ejector. What make of 1911?

Gotta list the important stuff!!!! Make and model really helps!

Are you limp wristing it? One of the primary causes of this problem. Has you let others shoot the gun? If so were the results the same? Any galling on the brass from fouling inside the chamber?
