G19 mags are MUCH cheaper.

G19 has parts availability and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, largest aftermarket support, better warranty, lighter weight, company that doesn't hate you and supports the civilian market.

Currently own a VP9 and its a great pistol, has better ergos that can adapt to shooter, and better trigger.  Other than that G19 beats the pants off it, IMO.

Also own P30L and SK, find them superior to the VP9........for me.

I’ve dealt with HK customer service buying parts and they were good to deal with. Never got vibe that they hated  me.

I've always viewed the Glock after market was needed to make them what the VP9 is from the factory.  Other than new sights, there is nothing the Hk needs to change.

I’m seeing Glock only has a one year warranty.  Is there something different?

Glock definitely has more accessible parts. It does get a annoying waiting for things to be available.  HK customer service is great though.

So 10 shots all within 1.6" of each other from 25 yards away?  God that's far.  I cannot even fathom how people learn to shoot like that.

I’ve been shooting handguns for over two decades and I can’t even do that with an RMR on a Glock 17.

Some people are just badass.

My smallish hands really fit well on the VP9

+Best fitting grip in my hands
+Great trigger, shoots nicely albeit flips more
+Good holster availability
+HK fixed the capacity tradeoff and mags are decently priced
-HK screwed up the light rail, won't take an X300U (at least the A model) unless you mash the Universal adapter in or take out the spacer in the back (but then it doesn't sit against the trigger guard either)
-Too many small parts
-Not as robust as other handguns and well documented. Is it robust enough for most people, probably, but why would you when there are so many other great options?
-Exposed firing pin out of box
-Have to be careful installing the rear sight as dog-ear of dovetail on slide is super thin

Had 3, for a period of a few years. One with a few thousand rounds. Hardly superior then a Gen 5 19 all things considered. I feel the Walther PDP is the first striker handgun that I would take over a Glock if mag commonality and the expensive mags aren't a factor for the decision. It does everything the VP9 excels at, some things better, and has none of the quirks. Really enjoy my PDP Compact

Good write up. Had a VP9 awhile back.

Got sick of waiting for safariland to make a lvl 3 retention holster for a VP9 that has both an optic AND a light. Not to mention the magazine prices were absurd.

Have seen lots of VP9’s start to fail around the 6k-8k round mark. Fail as in springs need to be replaced. Have seen other striker poly guns go for much longer.

Still love the VP9. I’d consider the Walther PDP to be the “updated” VP9. Wonder what HK will do soon. They def need a refresh in their handgun product line.

I've read that one time on the internet somewhere. I have had two VP9s bought a couple years apart and still own one having sold the other along with several other guns last winter when I was thinning the herd. And I have tried repeatedly to get this "release the striker when tapped just right on the butt" to happen on both of those handguns using a snap cap in place. Nope, just could not make it happen no matter how much tapping or where on the butt I tapped.  Even beat rather than tapped the butts a bunch of times. Not saying it hasn't happened on some example, but it couldn't be replicated on either of mine.

Just my experience with my two VP9s. Overall I do like my PPQs better than the VPs, but that is personal opinion only. Both have been rock solid in performance.

While the manual says one year, Glock will replace parts and repair guns regardless of age or owner.  They do this at GSSF matches as well.

Problem with HK is popular parts are always OOS.  Been waiting 6mos for a stinking follower.  LEM conversion kits are impossible and prices are ridiculous.

Glock has magazine compatibility with a host of other firearms, multiple manufacturers making the mags which also can be 3-D printed at home, complete clones of the Gen 3 Glock from several manufacturers, an aftermarket so extensive you can 3-D print your own frames, or mill them from an 80%, and build your own Glock w/ no factory Glock parts - in other words, it's a widely available, widely supported firearm platform in multiple calibers made by multiple manufacturers.  What were you saying about this pistol from HK that has a single source of magazines and little aftermarket support?

The HK VP9 doesn't need any aftermarket support.  It doesn't need a new frame to fix the grip angle.  It doesn't need a new trigger.  It doesn't need stipling.  The only thing it needs is lots of ammo for it.  Personally, I don't give a shit about pistol caliber rifles.  If I am using a rifle, it's in a rifle caliber.

A Glock doesn't need anything either. People just like to put spinners on their wheels.

Jarrod at Parker Mountain Machine in New Hampshire.

Notice what he calls the "lightening cuts" on the slide.  He removed the exact weight of metal from the slide to offset the added weight of the RMR.  That gun, as it sits, weighs exactly the same as a stock VP9.  To 1 gram.  So no need to swap springs, worry about different ammo, etc.

Nice!  The lightening cuts are similar to the VP9-L slide, which also has the same weight as the standard VP-9 slide.

Being exactly what you just described yourself, I'd suggest first for you to start that sorting of yourself out first with your BS ignorance before giving that same advice flippantly that you refuse to do on your own.

And speaking for one of these Glock fans, It wasn't until the VP9's slide racker that I had realized that all of my Glocks needed something similar too. So in a way he does have a point.

Well said. The VP9 is an outstanding pistol, they were surprisingly more in numbers at my past carbine course that required a primary as well as a secondary. Sig's 320 in various configurations were the most popular, seconded by VP9's. I was shocked that Glocks were the third popular and had felt like a minority.

Anyways, I don't care for PCC's either and if I am shouldering anything it's going to be a rifle.

It's funny that USSOCOM doesn't need all the doodads on their Glocks. It must be a tier 1 civilian thing.

It's even funnier that you actually think appeals to authority even applies to what I like. It must be an internet thing using fallacies as comparable arguments to what the end user prefers.

I really like my VP9, I like all my HKs though.  Not every box in my safe has a red HK on it by any means either.

I have a G19 and 17 too.  And I prob carry the 15 more often than the HK, but I shoot the VP9 so much better.  But not the the point I can't defend myself with the G15 LOL

As a side note I have a HK SFP9 M on the way in today.  I am trying to decide if I will shoot it or just park it next to my P8A1
