Mississippi county sheriff Dale Cook who was elected after sheriff Leroy Meadows died in 2009
Meadows was a pro-gun form 4 signer who signed my form and talked about how fun these class III weapons are I met with Cook shortly after his election to get a form 4 signed, he did not know what a form 4 was and after explaining it to him he instantly went into a speech about how dangerous these things can be and that a stolen silencer was worth 2 or 3 times it's value on the street . Needless to say he didn't sign my form and I explained to him I would go over his head or around him and I did. This year is election year and he has a pro-gun deputy running against him named Larry "pudge" Williams with 30 years of experience
his bio Larry "Pudge" Williams is announcing his candidacy for Sheriff of Mississippi County. Williams is a lifelong resident of Mississippi County, growing up in Dyess and currently residing in Manila. Williams and his wife Rena have been married 35 years and have one son and one granddaughter. He is a 1977 graduate of Rivercrest High School and a 1983 graduate of Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in East Camden. Williams is currently the Patrol Division commander for the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department and has served with six different sheriffs during his 30 years in law enforcement. Williams started his law enforcement career under Sheriff George Ford in 1982 and has worked for every sheriff since that time. He spent 14 years working for the Osceola Police Department from 1985 to 1999. He worked for the Manila Police Department from 1999 to 2008. In 2008, the late Sheriff Leroy Meadows brought Williams back to the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department as the Patrol Division lieutenant. "I have spent my life in public service as a law enforcement officer," Williams said. "I am running for the office because I have long desired the opportunity to serve the residents of Mississippi County as their sheriff. I am experienced and have a strong desire to improve the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department so the residents of our county are provided with professional and dedicated law enforcement. I firmly believe in the fair application of the law and believe every citizen, regardless of race, creed, religion, or standing in their community, deserve to be treated as equals and receive the same treatment from those with the duty to protect them." I haven't met with Mr. Williams yet but I know the local PD and Chief who both assured me he is very pro-gun as they are, pro class III as well. Also sheriff Cook when running said he was pro-gun and spoke at a dinner with a pro-gun type theme with people from a local gun club in attendance and about a year or so after his election when this group tried to get their private range extended (at the former Air Force base in Gosnell) Cook opposed it. And a video example of the type of person current sheriff is I'll try an embed white box syndrome, maybe someone can help me here anyway here's a link to the current sheriff's story http://www.kait8.com/story/24858024/mississippi-county-sheriff-?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=9899993 |
