So I've been having issues with my back being stiff, it's not painful just annoying. I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of the problem but I can't seem to find a solution, I'm a pretty healthy guy I work out regularly practice martial arts and just did the Tough Mudder run in GA this weekend.  All the research I've done online says to go to a chiropractor or use some kind of gimmicky thing or specialty stretching video that you can buy now for 3 easy payments of blah blah blah.  So I started looking at chiropractors and their websites make me feel like I'm dealing with a used car sales man.  Just for S&G's I downloaded some of the new patient forms from one and they're asking shit like who does my wife work for her work number and other things that I don't feel like they need to know.  Anyone have any suggestions!!?!?!

Good news and Bad news..

1st good news it can be fixed

Bad news sounds like you might have blew a disc "5th lumbar or so" and might develop sciatica... You ll know if the back continues to be stiff then you might get a slight pain in your leg / legs. go to a doctor asap once the leg hurts you'll be screaming in pain.

i had a similar thing happen.. the back was stiff for like 2 months then the leg and it was unbearable needed surgery and im good now.

BTW the chiropractor will tel you they can fix it... the stretching will give you slight relief for like an hour after the treatment but it will return quickly.  See a back doctor...

I called my regular doc and he said there wasn't really anything he could do besides xrays and some ranger candy.  He also said he doubts I have any serious issues, and if I decide to go to a chiropractor don't let them sucker me into any of that wellness crap.

If you have health insurance then i would do the xray or MRI. that's how they found my blown disc. my advice is just dont ignore it as when the pain starts its too late.... you'll be in serious pain.

Alieve (or its generic form Naproxen Sodium) does wonders for my back.

Do you stretch before/after a workout?

My hamstrings need more attention, and anytime I am not feeling quite right, I stretch them for a minute each.  I usually feel better after that.
