going to try and better last sunday; 135 x 10(2 sets)wm up no belt 185 x 6(2 sets)no belt pause squats 225 x 5(4 sets)tight belt deadlift stiff leg; 135 x 10(2sets) 185 x 10(1 set) 225 x 6 (1 sets) 245 x 4(1set) 285x1 1rep sore for days,puked once during the w/o josam |

sunday 3-23-03 135x10(2sets)wm up 185x5(2sets)no belt more wm up 225x3(1 set) no belt felt strong,back stabile and good power up 245x1 tight belt feelt as good as the last 265x1 getting heavy started to stick 285x2 1st rep was good no sticking,2nd rep spotter had to get me past that point that i felt at 265 resting about 3-4minutes between sets. no deadlifts today,no puke. working to get 315# josam |

NEVER NEVER DO THESE!!! You are asking, no BEGGING for problems with your lower back! Always keep your back STRAIGHT, head up, and use your legs when picking something up. I can't believe you are even using 285 lbs for this. I am into competition power-lifting, and have dead-lifted close to 800 lbs. I THINK i KNOW A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT IT. PLEASE!!! NO stiff-legged deadlifts. |

sunday 3-30-03 135 x 10 wm up 185 x 10 1 set no belt 225 x 10 1 set belt 10 min rest did some stretching and light ballerina's 245 x 4 1 set tight belt 285 x 3 1 set tight belt 3 rep went slooooooowww. finished up with a walkout with 315 and started a squat,inside the box,legs were weak and i told myself i wasn't going to go all the way down,but you guys know how testosterone cause malfunctions in rational male thinking. yep i got stuck,thank goodness for a good spotter and the box. no deadlifts and didn't get sick,must not have been a good workout if i don't at least leave a smelly trash can behind. josam |

Try this next time: 1 set each, rest 2 min between each set. 135 x 7 warm up 185 x 7 warm up 225 x 7 warm up 315 x ? 285 til failure 245 til failure 225 til failure IMO, if you are trying to build strength and/or or mass, you shouldn't save the heaviest weight until last. Exhausting your muscles and then trying a 1 rep max is counter productive. Stretch well, warm up with 2-3 lighter sets, then hit the heavy weight. If you are trying to build endurance, then I would save the heaviest weight until last. |

puked once during the w/o Do you also keep a bucket by your squat rack? to try 315 this week. 315# is a nice milestone. Three 45# plates on each side of your 45# bar looks impressive. About the stiff legged deadlifts, I don't like doing them, but if you want to grow your hamstrings with just a barbell, they're a necessary evil. Just make sure you get someone to watching you do them to make sure you keep your back straight, and you should be fine. metalstorm, so how do you feel about good mornings? [:)] I think I know the answer to that one.z |

the gym i go to has 30 gallon trash can placed all over with trash bags. i usually drag one over to the squat rack so i can hit it before i spew all over the mirrors,for some reason when i puke i do it rather violently and loud. i have seen some trash cans get some heavy use at times. josam |

sunday 4-20-03 still no 315,been a bad week,getting over a sinus infection so i was weak,ended up do lots of sets with 225 just to get a good workout. azsherman1, i hope you left off the smily face on your reply,if you comment was serious please don't use this thread to start any stuff with anyone. josam |
