I never want a law passed that forces smart guns down our throats. So instead of some sort of smart gun my buddy did this. I have a friend who is a master gunsmith and a wizzard with gun tech He installed a very small hidden safety on 2 of his bed room guns. He did this so he and his wife could keep them safely by their bedsides. Only he and his wife know where and how this tiny safety is/works ( I know because he showed me, cool too) He did this because he has a 5 & 8 year old running around the house At night i put one semi auto under my mattress, at morning I put that back in the wall safe in the master walk in closet We have too many little ones running around the house to leave out guns where little hands can find them. They all have been taught since they could understand words on gun safety and safe handling and not to touch a gun with one of us present. I have a S&W snubby .38 with the action locking key. I locked it, left it on the dinning room table all day one saturday. I watch as one by one they looked at it, turned right around and went looking for my wife or myself. Glad the training worked What do you guys with kids running around do to protect the house at night. The gun under my mattress is really not a big deal time wise, we have steel reenforced entry doors and alarms so before anyone could make entry I can get to my walk in closet and come out armed to the teeth |

Usually my G17 is on my hip. Hard for anyone to grab it when its there. I've said this before, and I'll say it again.
Guns are no mystery to my kids. Whenever they show an interest in seeing one, I stop what I am doing and we go over the rules, the parts, and why its so important. If kids are taught, instructed, and entertained, than guns shouldn't be a mystery to them and they should know the rules. Its important to teach and engage your kids when they show an interest in guns. I grew up around guns, they were as common as the table lamp in my house. And they are as common in my house today. I will never say no to engage and teach them. Kids are curious, so indulge that, and take advantage. Happy learning.
