| I'd like to chop some mp3 files for ringtones. Anybody know of a free program that will allow me to cut a segment out to load onto my phone. |
Try the first two programs on this page: PortableFreeware.com MP3 Editors |

Check out Myxertones.com You can use the tones they already have or they have a web interface you can use to make tones out of your own music. It is totally free and I have never gotten one piece of spam or junk from them. The biggest plus for me is it allows me to bypass the stupid Verizon lockdowns and get tones without having to pay a dime. ETA: No, I am not affiliated with them in any way, just a happy user of their services. |

for a super newbie friendly mp3 splitter, you can also try: Mega Mp3 Splitter I like Audacity but I'm haven't put the time in to learn it... |

Check out Audacity. It should do what you need (and a lot more). |
