Ok I have a 107' by 223' lot that I want to set up video surveillance on. My house is in the front section of this property. I want to be able to remotely monitor via Internet the system and most cameras will be outdoor cameras. The entire perimeter is going to be fenced in with a 6 ft high fence there will be a rear acess gate and a motorized drive way gate. The house is an L shape with garage protuding out to the driveway. You can not see the garage door from the entry door. The left side of the house allows no access as there are no doors or windows the right side of the house has two windows and the rear has a sliding door and 2 windows. The Back porch is under truss and extends out 10 ft from the back of the house with the screen enclosure blocking the view of the rear left window from the rear right. Sliding door is in insde the screened in back porch. I would like to be able to monitor both property entry points and all entry points to the home. Cameras need to be exterior and have NVD capability. I think I need a minimum 8 cameras. I have found systems that offer the features I am looking for online for as little as $2850.00 is this stuff crap? Can anyone make recomendations on what to look for or a good website to check out? If you think I sound paranoid I most deffinately am PARANOID. I have been broken into 2 times in the last 4 months in 2 seperate residences (moved after the first brak in) and had around 20K dollars worth of my property stolen. I believe I am being targeted by someone, I do not know what the reasoning would be. I am installing a multi level security system. A Fence, 2 German Sheppards, Alarm system, cameras, neighborhood watch program, impact resistant glass in all windows/doors, kick proof doors with reinforced strike plates, dual dead bolts and other misc ideas. I am also varying my routine alot to allow me or my wife to return home at odd hours or have family stop in. |

Check out this place: cctvproducts.com/ I buy all our stuff to protect our 8 warehouses from them. If you call them up, they'll give you good recommendations. |
What kind of cameras have you used from them? I'm specifically looking for B/W domes. |

i like the Axis 213 line: www.axis.com/products/cam_213/index.htm |
We use 1/3 cameras from Panasonic and JVC that are dual mode (B&W, & Color) and the cameras work very well. I don't believe the Panasonic dual modes are listed any longer on the website... But for the home user, 1/3 is going to be an overkill system. I would think you want something a little more concealed (to kinda keep the look of the house kinda nice) and for ease of installation. Bullet cameras are pretty popular, and are easy to install, but I have zero experience with them. I would stay away from nEverfocus (a knickname that maybe well deserved for Everfocus). Pelco makes good enclosures, I would tend to think their cameras work well also. |
