With one Ipod, could I put music from my wife's computer on as well as my own?

Yes, but not directly.

It will only "bond" with one computer.  You'll need to transfer the music all onto one computer, and bond it with that

Not true.  You can hook an iPod up to as many PCs as you want and x-fer all the music that you want.

no it erases the ipod if you link it up with another computer. There are third party software that you can get that will allow you to down load music off the ipod thats not the originally synced computer.

No, it doesn't.  I had music from 2 different computers on my iPod within 15 minutes of taking it out of the package.  My buddy's iPod has been hooked up to at least 5 PCs that I'm aware of, and probably more.

Go into iTunes and change the setting for automatic update between the iPod and computer. This setting is carried with the iPod. Once you set it you can hook your iPod up to as many computers as you want without losing any music. I have had mine hooked up to over 10 without a problem.

whoa nelly

Your Wife can put music from her computer on the IPOD (the ipod cannot put anything onto your wife's computer

WITHOUT ERASING ANYTHING

You can also put music from your computer on the IPOD (the ipod cannot put anything onto your  computer

WITHOUT ERASING ANYTHING

Your friend can also put music from his computer on the IPOD (the ipod cannot put anything onto your friend's computer

and so on.

IF you want to take Musci from One Computer to another - you CANNOT use an IPOD to transfer the files.  You can use a hard drive, USB drive, BUT NOT an Ipod.

IF (I hate Itunes) you are going to use Ituens to purchase music - Than use your best, most stable, likely to last the longest PC to download the files.  These files cannot be shared with ANY other Computer UNLESS you authorize another computer to used the purchased file.  You can only authorize an Itune file 5 times before it goes away for good.  (that to me is a crock of shit)

good luck.

I have 3 iPods.  I use them all to pull music off of many computers.  if the automatic update option is turned off, you can do this.  It's just a fact.

You can transfer music on an iPod. You just can't use iTunes.

An iPod is just another hard drive to Windows. If you want to use it to transfer music from one PC to another, right click on the start icon on then menu bar. Select explore. Your iPod will be another drive on your PC just like any other drive. Create a directory on your iPod and then drag and drop any songs you want to transfer onto the iPod. Do the reverse to take them off.

Once on a PC with iTunes, import the songs by adding a file or folder.

You will not get asked if you do not turn off automatic updating between your iPod and the PC. itunes will start synching and it will remove anything that is not on the PC you are synching to. But if you turn off automatic updating you don't have to worry about getting asked anything. The way to update an iPod with automatic updates off is you drag and drop from the iTunes library to the iPod.

Two gotchas with iTunes.
1. If you drag a song to your iPod twice then it will be on your iPod twice.
2. If you delete a song using iTunes, it is truly deleted. Not just from iTunes but from you HD also.

Also, if you need to get music that is not on your HD off of an iPod there are software packages available. If you have a MAC then use iPodRip. There are quite a few shareware PC programs that are available if you have a PC. I have used several and they work well.

Yeah, they must suck.  Far too popular to be a viable product.
