I might be getting an iPad here in a couple of weeks and am looking for a good case for it.

I'm rather careful with my electronics, but I'm pretty crazy over protective with my stuff and really want a case that will protect the iPad from drops and general wear.

I was thinking about the otterbox defender for it, but are there any other options that other have tried?

thanks

The reason that I like the otterbox over anything else that I've seen is that it has a screen cover that you can use.

All the other 'heavy duty' cases that I've seen, the gumdrop - military and the survivor case, only have the protection on the back of the case with an integrated screen protector.

had an otterbox on my iphone, it was very stout. for as much bank as you're spending on an ipad recommend getting a good case.

i did see target had clearance deals on ipad cases, i assume it was for the ipad 1, not sure if ipad1 and ipad2 are the same size

Check out Seidios' Ipad 2 "Active" case. I just got mine in the mail the other day, and I am very impressed. I have a similar case from Seidio but for my iPhone and it has held up great. The iPad case is outstanding. Barely adds weight, and also keeps it slim and sleek. I work in law enforcement and private security and both cases hold up very well during use. Do a youtube search for it, and I promise you will like what you see.

Can you wait a few months?

According to a report by Digitimes, Apple is preparing to launch an upgraded iPad 2 in March 2012, with the iPad 3 to follow in the third quarter of the same year.

The new iPad 2 is rumoured to offer better battery life than the current model, and could also sport a thinner profile.

Apple will also reportedly launch a “real” iPad 3 during the third quarter of 2012.

LCD panel manufacturers including Samsung are said to be working on a new retina display for the next-generation iPad, while a faster A6 processor may also feature.

The decision to launch an upgraded iPad 2 ahead of an iPad 3 could be the result of manufacturing delays that are struggling to mass produce 2,048 x 1,536 resolution displays effectively.

Ironically, this is why I'm getting the current iPad.

My dad is giving me his iPad 2 for Christmas (with that crappy smart cover) so that he can free up space in his 'big-boy toy' collection for the newer iPad.

I like the switcheasy case. It's simple, protects it, it's thin and tough. When it first came out the otter box for the iPad 2 didn't get very good reviews (not as good as their other products) I went with this one and really like it a lot!
