I know this is GD but looking for some advice rather quicky. I just got my M1 Garand barreled reciever, must say I am very happy. However the bolt cloeses on a no go guage but however is about 2-3 thousands from closing on a field guage. Would youguys shoot it until I get a new barrel or leave it alone till then, or try a new bolt from fultons first before a rebarrel.

My $.02...worth exactly what you paid for it...I'd go ahead and shoot it.  I don't believe doing so would be unsafe.  Brass life for reloading purposes will be shorter, as the brass has stretched more than it would have in a SAAMI spec. chamber.  A new bolt will be a "crapshoot", unless you send the barreled receiver to Fulton asking them to try some different bolts until acceptable headspace is achieved.  That's what I would do until I could afford a rebarrel job.

If your 2-3 thousandths from completely closing on a field gauge with light thumb pressure on the stripped bolt, then your to close for comfort IMHO to be putting close to 60,000 psi that close to your face. If the ME and TE numbers on that barrel are really  high, "It's time" so to speak. I would retire a rifle at that stage until it was corrected. Got a buddy or two you could borrow bolts from and try a swap? If the barrel is still a shooter it would worth trying to match a bolt to it. Best of luck getting it dialed in.

Thanks guys, my first garand and I kinda like just like everyone have the itch to shoot it, but didn't want to hurt it or me. Guess I will settle for the M1A this weekend, (HAHAA) I love that thing too. I will say the CMP hooked me up with a nice reciever. Good thing I dont live close by them as I would be there everywekend fondling. I wish I hadn't waited so long to get one.
