Amazing game! Took me a while to finish the single player part, but finally did. Awesome graphics, simply beautiful, assuming you have a decent video card. I'm not sure what to make of the game's end, however. Most likely (hopefulle!) HL3 will come out in a couple of years or so. -The "water hazard" chapter was amazing! (love that hover boat) -The Ravenholm (zombie) chapter was creepier than hell. I almost wet my pants the first time I saw the "poison" headcrabs and the "fast" zombies. -Being able to "control" the ant lions in the prison chapter added a nice dimension to the gameplay. I could on and on and on... I'm just getting started with CS, I suck at it, of course, hope I'll get better. Tried deathmatch HL, that was a blast. Got my first kill by trhowing a toilet at some SOB! |

Don't even bother with CS:source My buddy and I were CS players awhile ago and we tried CS:source for the first time last night. WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? It's the same dumb game that's been played for over 5 or 6 years years now. What's worse is there still 1000's of these servers still playing it. People so so f'in stupid it amazes me. Play HL2 Deathmatch, it's buy far the funniest multiplayer game around and it's something new. I still am shaking my head after last night when we played CS, all we could say was "WOOO BFD, same game, same disproportionate levels to the player models, its all the same and there's still thousands that play. I just don't understand.

I agree with your opinion, but one thing to keep in mind is that there's quite a few people (myself among them) who never played the original CS, so for them (and me!) it's a whole new game. I understand your "outrage" at those that have been playing the same game for 5 years now, but there's no way to know how many of those are out there, is it? The one thing that sucks is that because there ARE players who have been playing CS for years now, they are exceedingly good at it, and newbies like me have absolutely no chance in some levels. And like you say, there's always HL deathmatch! |
True, my guess is 75% of the people that are still playing, have been doing so for over a year or two. If you've never played CS and you end up liking it more the HL2 DM, you have issue's. CS is boring and that is a fact. The gameplay is well, 7 years old. It's stiff, damage area is old school, graphics still suck. |
I just finished HL2 a few days ago. It is a great game and much longer than I thought. I read a few early reviews that complained about how short it was. It isn't short at all. I think they were just sad to reach the end.  I have a P4-1500 and a GeForce 4 Ti4200 -- certainly an older system. I had to run the game in 800x600, but it still looked pretty darn great. I played CS a LOT a few years ago, but I stopped playing when it got overrun with cheaters. I started playing CS:Source after I beat HL2, and it's hella fun. It looks much better, but the gameplay isn't changed too much. Don't fix it if it ain't broke, I say. The only thing I don't like is they renamed all the guns with fake names. Probably got threatened with a lawsuit or two from gunmakers. Haven't noticed any cheaters yet, so I don't know if Valve has beefed up security against them, or if I've just been lucky. |
| I used to play Camper Snipe a few years back. If you like that, try Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam or a mod for 1942 called "Desert Combat". It makes counter strike look like blues clues. There is a new game coming out soon for PC called "Battlefield 2". It will pwn all other video games ever made. 100 people all over the world on one map with any number of vehicles you could imagine, scuds, little birds, tanks , submarines, F-15's Specters, hummv's technicals, thats just a small part of the vehicles, the infintry aspect is just as amazing. |

Steam sucks the ass out of a dead cat.. it's the sole reason I haven't bought HL2. They want me to connect to their server, just to play single player? Uh uh. |
