| suggestions on what to use beside excel to keep track of firearms and ammo? |
|
what is there to keep track of?
keep a list of guns and SNs with your paperwork, and at a parents/relatives house. (I do the same thing backing up digital photographs/tax documents etc. I just keep a small firebox stashed with someone I trust) As far as ammo goes a sharpie with the date on the case when you buy it, rotate stock to the front as you shoot and put new stuff in the back when you buy. get yourself a separate safe/fire locker for your ammo and accessories... |

I just record the serial numbers. Excel for ammo would be kind of pointless for me. I know I would never keep up with it. Fuck it. Noting what kind of finish a gun has just seems a little OCD to me. I have a good amount of surplus ammo i wont shoot, But its mainly for mags and guns. |

My dad uses it to keep track of ammo and reloading stuff. |

| Just downloaded the above program to check it out. Pretty cool actually. I own 10, so it's at it's limit and I will be picking up a carry gun soon since I finally made it to a carry class. I will probably buy the full version. I haven't taken pictures of everything yet, but I will. |
| About once every two or three months or so, I email myself a copy of my list (excell format) to my hotmail account. That way I have a digital copy that I can access from anywhere, and if my home system goes down, I still have a copy. You can also winzip or winrar the file with a password so no one can open it except you. I have done most of my important papers the same way. Just a cheap handy way to have stuff backed up just in case. |

Cheers! -JC for insurance, And not far from armory especially if the news was reporting on my collection. Insurance, makes sense. I've never considered it, my collection tally fits on one hand. But now it makes sense to me, thanks. Cheers! -JC |
