| i have an older friend he is 81 and his wife is 84 and they asked me to be the executor of thier will.i was just wondering if any one else has done this before and what are the positives and negatives. he has three children and i think 4 grandchildren for a little background info |

It may be considered an honor that he selected you since he obviously trusts you. Think long and hard as to whether you want the fiduciary duties that go along with it --particularly if there is a chance his kids may become antagonistic. It may not be worth the hassle for the compensation. ETA: I have never served as an Executor. I have done a significant amount of trust and estate litigation and I am generally seeing what happens when things go very, very bad. |
