Does anyone know

No, but here's a strange one a guy uses for his sig line;

You're just as well to eat the Devil, as to suck his broth.

Speak of the devil and he will appear?

It must be something only known to you. Even Google's never heard of it.

BTW, why in the fuck would you call "down" the Devil? Is he in Heaven? Live in upper Montana or something?

Maybe that's why no one's heard of this saying.

You're welcome.

Seriously, go to Google and type in "when you call down the devil" (the " marks limit the search to those exact words, in that exact order), and see what it says. If it had appeared anywhere, in any literature or in any searchable text online, SOMETHING would have come up.

Either you're 100% offbase with your wording, or that phrase is completely obscure.

Just a thought, "You called down the thunder.........well now you've got it."

Wyatt Earp to Ike Clanton in Tombstone.

Yeah, see, thunder comes from the sky (down), and the devil comes from hell (up).

You understand my utter confusion now, don't you?

You could have just asked what Wyatt said to Ike.
