Wow. At first glance, I thought the thread title was "Patch of raspberries close to my home".

Sucks about the B&Es, though.

It is against company policy states that it will result in "corrective action, up to and including immediate discharge" for " Carrying weapons or explosives on company time or company premises". It has no weapons prohibitted signs anywhere however.

So at most, if she were to get her liscense and carry, and somehow be caught, all they could do is ask her to leave and fire her, right?

That's about it.

You can always find another job... and the 2nd life you have to wait for.

BTW - disappointed that the KWV didn't go hand to hand with the skell and scalp him or something.

Another thing that irritates the hell out of me is my buddies girlfriend Jane. She called us to let us know that Howard had been robbed right after it happened. While she was on the phone, I told my fiancee she was going to get her carry permit, to which Kim replied over the phone "You can't do that. It is against company policy, and it is a federal offense to have a gun in the pharmacy"

That's a complete fucking lie!

My sister is a pharmacist and I was a store manager of the local CVS in a past life.

The guys that she and I have dealt with we not violent....just wanted the drugs.

The good thing is that they are so addicted to the drugs and so desperate that they get caught  soon.

I think you already know the answers to this question.

A) She takes the steps necessary to protect herself by getting a CCW and training

B) She doesn't and in the event something does happen she is at the mercy of the attacker/robber.

As long as the store is not a posted no carry zone the only thing they can do is ask her to leave and terminate her job. As someone stated above, you can find another job, last I knew they don't advertise second lives in the Sunday classifieds.

As for her "friend" Fuck her, she needs to keep her nose out of your and your fiancee's business and I would have no problems in telling her just that. When someone has an opinion on my GF's safety I get real personal, real quick.

Have your GF read my sig line below and see if she can dispute it's meaning.

Best of luck and I hope she stays safe and makes the right choices.

I've been a pharmacist for over 20 years and fortunately have never been robbed. But these incidents do happen even in rural areas. There is no Federal law against having a firearm in a pharmacy. Usually rules against firearms in pharmacies are company policies. I give your fiancee a lot of credit ,school and working is tough but will definitely pay off for your family.
Most pharmacists I have discussed this with have said they will give someone desperate enough to rob a pharmacy anything they want to get them out of their face. I think how often this happens should not deter your fiancee from a career in pharmacy and retail is just one area to work in. I presently work in the hospital setting with a retail pharmacy too but it is not an easily accessible place to get in and out of. So in other words retail is not the only game in town if you are interested in limiting risk further.
Good luck to you and yours,
Meade

That is a very good sig. I might have to use that elsewhere

Yeah, I have been trying to talk her into working at the hospital. They would pay much better. Right now she is making less than $10 an hour I persoannly hate Eckerds/riteaid.

She is the best Tech that anyone around here has seen. She has a crazy memory for this stuff. She remembers all the drug #s, patient names, generics, etc. All the Rite aid Pharmacists want her to come and work for them.

I have no doubt that she will make it. She will have many letters of recomendation. I am going to try myself, but I will have to see how the cards are dealt.

Another rant I wanted to add that I just thought of:

I went down to the said friend's house. I had just got my CCW and my 1911A1, and I took it off while we played old-school Nintendo.

Anyhow, Jane's oldest son (14) walks through there and see my 1911. He asks why I have it. My buddy tells him that I carry it everywhere, to which the oldest replies" Why? To scare people?"

I tell him no, that if it is done correctly noone knows that I have it, and noone sees it unlesssomething terrible happens that I would have to use it.

I tried to explain to him possible scenarios, but my buddy did not want me to talk about it to him anymore.

They did not bother telling any of the kids when their mother was robbed at the pharmacy. They almost live in a make-believe world that nothing bad ever happens in.
