about a year ago i stocked up on usgi 30rders.
I just noticed something on one of them. the flor plate says center industries and on the side toward the bottom this is stamped: 6P199 (or maybe 6PI99) and under that is stamped: 08 /99
no where dose it say for govt or LEO use only nor does it have any marks that would sugest that somebody had grinded the govt LEO only stamp off. do ya'll think it's a date ( 08 /99) or do i not need to worry about it. [:\]

Get rid of it immediately before the mag police bust in and haul you off to the slammer.

Not to worry.  The imprint you are describing is the CAGE number, not a date of manufacture.

Go to http://www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/, and click on the magazine FAQ to ease your fears.

The cage number is on the baseplate, not on the mag body. 08/99 stamped on the mag body is a date of manufacture, not a cage number.

Center Industries mags have this problem of post ban dates without the LEO/Military Only markings.

BIg Bear, I beg to differ with you.

I am right at this moment looking at one of my pre ban  30rd. Center Ind. mags, and imprinted on the side of the mag body, clear as day, is the date of manufacture... 01/92, and right above it is the imprint 6P199 (the CAGE #).

The CAGE # does not appear on the floor plate of this magazine.
