I hit something and now the ARFCOM window is too big for my screen.

1.What did I do wrong

2. How do I undo it?

Are you using I.E.8? If so it has a tab or button in the lower RH corner above the clock that lets you pick
100% [1 to 1] or larger or smaller. (I'm Win XP Pro, BTW) .

Yeah. I figured that out.

The reason that I keep screwing up is that when I type my thumb keeps hitting the touch pad.

I have an exterrnal mouse. How do I shut off the touch pad?

might be a setting in control panel / touchpad
