No more porn sites!  Bad monkey!

Seriously though, I had to make the decision not to go to any more porn sites.  They are simply more trouble than they are worth.  Its hard to give up, I know.  But if I can do it, you can do it.

Try HijackThis. www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html  It may be a little difficult to use, but it saved my butt.  Just follow the intructions to the letter and it should work.

This is my first message, I am a new member

I have an answer for you, do a search for "IE Restrictions" Its a piece of software that will remove the configurations fixed into your browser.

It should do the trick. There is also another software called CWShredder

USe IE Restrcitions first -that reall should do it for you

Tom

AR15.com, a few other gun sites, my e-mail, and the occasional vacation or music site is the only places I go now.  My problems stopped after I changed my e-mail and stopped opening all the crapp that freinds used to send me.

if you have windows xp you can run a system restore to reset your computer to a time when you were not being hijacked.

You might also try using Mozilla, Opera, or some other freeware browser. They tend to be faster and more resistant to spyware and popups.

I had a browser hijaking problem.  I used adaware and spybot to no avail.  I hit Ctrl + Alt + Del and looked at the processes I had running.  I noticed one that shouldn't be there and did a file search for it.    I also noticed that when I ended the process my browser wasn't hijaked any more.  when I'd reboot my computer the process would start again and so would the hijaking.  Then I deleted it.  no problems since.

Hijackthis will only remove some of them. It will not be able to remove all of them.

THe next program I use is CWShredder. It works pretty well at getting many of the programs.

The last program I use is spybot.

If you run al of these and know how to work hijackthis properly then it should get rid of any problems.

Run adaware.  Go to www.download.com and search for it.  After you install it click the option to download the latest spyware definition file.  Run it, reboot, then run it again.  If you can't get something to stay gone IM me and I'll give you some tips.

I tried Spybot, SpyKiller 2004, and installed Mozilla about a month ago. Spybot and Spykiller 2004 did jack. I don't use Mozilla because the download times are two or three times slower than my Windows 98 browser. And, the pictures take five-ten minutes to load, if they load at all.

Psst, it did start doing this when I was looking at porn.

goto add/remove programs and look for any kind of browser helper software

you could also post a picture of the results from hijackthis.exe and we could take a look for you.

If you've used 6 different spyware/addware killers AND you've uninstalled any browser helpers from add/remove programs then you may need to wipe your system clean and do a reinstall.

Are you updating your spyware removers before you run them?  They have to be updated with new files weekly

The Opera Browser

It's a simple as pie to install, no hijacking, no pop-ups, no java infected email .... you'll thank me later. Either that or try Mozilla/Firefox.

Unfortunately it's going to more involved than just running the suggested software (which are all very good, by the way).  You'd have to find the registry keys and delete them and in some cases find the .dll files and get rid of those from safe mode.  Some of these hi-jackers act like trojan viruses.  I'm always dealing with this crap at my company because our company has been fairly loose in the internet usage policies.

We just locked down our computers here at work because of this crap. If your on XP make a user up that has no rights to install anything. Surf the internet with that account and the only thing you will get is bad cookies.
