Will probably not look to good in a couple of days...
Looks like some kind of MRSA magnet.

Looks like a staph infection to me too.  Might get better on it's own might not.  I'd go to the doctor personally.

Hope it wasn't a brown recluse spider. Did the center of it have a spot kinda like a pimple?

For one thing, staph is part of normal skin flora.

When you push on the swelling...does it stay (ie...take a fingerprint?)?  My guess would be the above as well...bug bite, scratched, gets infected...staph infection follows.

Recently had a nice little staph infection/abscess myself. Ended with having my leg cut open to get rid of the infection. Good times :)

Keep an eye on it and if that redness starts to spread, feel hot to the touch, and/or swell up then get to the ER fast.

um like the area a couple inches to the right of the spot on the right side ? see the skin tone difference ?

I can't even tell what part of your leg I'm looking at.  Anyway, who knew we had so many M.D.s on ARFCOM, all eager to share their professional, conclusive diagnoses.

Comforting.

There was a guy on here a couple weeks ago that had almost that same thing.

It was later divulged that it was just an allergic reaction to his socks.

...socks that doubled as girlfriends.

I would keep an eye on it and wait to see if it gets about as big as a quarter.

By the way, although I am trying to be helpful, any medical advice you get from me is absolutely worthless and, in fact, might even be WORSE than useless.

Folliculitis
Many etiologies.  MRSA would be one.
Sorry about your luck, but if a little heat and careful attention to hygiene doesn't clear it up, you need to suck it up and see a doc.
That is all.

If it's MRSA and it gets him, you have to ask yourself: "Do I really want his stuff in my house?"

ETA: "...pain and swelling is spreading through out my leg as time goes by..."

I'm not a doctor, and this might or might not be stupid advice, but...

Go to some urgent care place and tell them you were exposed to someone with MRSA (...in case it's not MRSA). Otherwise, dibs.

ETA: If it gets rapidly worse, just go to the emergency room.

Staph infections (including MRSA) happen when a common (and pain in the ass to kill) bacteria that lives on your skin (and everything people touch) manages to get beneath the surface of your skin...

Commonly mistaken for 'spider bites'...

There are countless ways that it can happen...

And you should see the doc if it gets much worse - regular staph infections can get better, but MRSA can get real bad & need serious treatment...

MRSA is nothing to screw around with. I've known three people with it. One was hospitalized for 2 months.  The other one almost had her leg amputated.
