So i was gonna swap fluids with a tranny. Got all up in there, fluid covering my hands.....

And then found a 1 1/4 inch sheared off pin stuck to the magnet in the drain plug-

Nv 3550 out of an 00 jeep tj. Any ideas what it might be? Shifts a little rough up into 2nd and fown into 1-3 at high rpms.

The NV3550 is a 5 speed manual.

OP, could it possibly be a needle bearing?  What is the actual dimension of it?

The tranny shifts rough in those gears because nobody knows how to treat a manual nicely and they wear the synchros out.

No... unless its a bearing? Dimensions are just over an inch long by probably 1/4in diameter

Looks like part of a bearing to me.  I cant see a locating pin getting lose.  However, I'm not a full size vehicle trans expert. I've just rebuilt a couple motorcycle trannys..

Number 32 is a the shift shaft, that should be way larger than a 1/4" in diameter

Ha.  I'm happy that I failed in an ARFCOM tranny thread.
