i and other mods and staff have spent a good deal of time dealing with a problem today. the problem religion bashing. Guys religion is a VERY personal issue to people. everyone has their own beleifs. these threads lately have really turned ugly and are causing problems for the site. Catholics..... not every comment made about the church is a personal insult to you. like every other denomination there are problems. staf/mods are not going to restrict discussion of legitamate issue because you feel it's bashing. there is no grand anti-catholic conspriacy on this site muslims/rop .. we have several members here that are muslim. members i will add that are in good standing and are good people. we all know the issues here, lets not attack them. Muslims, please realise our country is at war. Followers of your faith have done horrible things in it's name. Some animosity must be expected. It's not right but life isn't fair. General Christians .... Please give up the your all going to hell. we don't need a scripture lesson in every thread. we come here for entertainment not church. Theological discussion is fine, it's not needed in everything you post. it's old and not drawing anyone to you. there is no grand anti-christian conspiracy on this site. Pagans .. stop harrasing the Christians. if they are having a discussion and you have nothing reasonable to add. Stay out of it. it's called courtesy. Athiests..... see christians and pagans if i missed anyone please select the closest category that applies to you. this is a firearms board. Not politics, not religion. All are welcome and all will be allowed so long as it falls within the COC. Vioations will be handled by mods and staff. they have asked nicely time and again and been ignored. There are no more second chances. mike |
| Just in case some misunderstand the statement I posted yesterday concerning the war on terror stating it is a war on radical muslims I will reiterate and emphasize the relevant term Radical Muslims. I have no problems whatsoever the the muslim religion or the vast majority of the followers of that faith. Other than the pagans and athiests, we all believe in the same god. We merely apply that faith in slightly different ways. I respect all religions (Yes, even athiesm and paganism), I merely despise those that take religion and use it as a justification to do that which goes against all of our religions. I agree wholeheartedly with the opening of this post Respect each others beliefs. We have in this great nation, freedom of religion. Please do not try to impose your religious beliefs on others and I swear that I will not try to impose mine on you. |
One of the best paragraphs I have read on this site in a long, long time. The self righteous, sometimes admittedly hypocritical Christian zealotry which exists on this board sometimes makes me wonder why I even bother looking around here. Then, I stumble upon some tidbits of good sense and all is right with me and my comfort in the Arfcom world. The feigned judgement of others through the text of ancient documents has really, really got to stop. Objectivity goes a long way. Let's stick with that. |

What many people fail to understand is that the more you lecture the more you turn people OFF to your ideals. It's like people who quit smoking and then run around screaming at every smoker that they stink, they are going to die, yadda yadda. I prefer for people to be curious about my faith and ask. Then, and only then, can any intelligent conversation begin. Other than that, you're just being a self-righteous dick. |

I am a little confused here. Is it the religious people that are the problem or those attacking the religions that are the problem? Which group exactly is it that this is directed at? Because it appears everyone thinks it is the Christians that are the problem. Sgat1r5 |
It's both, bro. Christians slam those who do not believe, and unbelievers slam Christians as idealists looking for an escape. Both slam others who have differing viewpoints. What's missing is a matter of mutual respect. Seems there are some who refuse to be respectful just because another disagrees with them, regardless of the thoughts they purport. That's sad, as we are all supposed to be adults who value other opinions and learn from them. When one is so busy arguing their own values, one cannot listen enough to learn from opposing values. That's my .02 anywho. |

If you want to bash those that take the religion and distort and bastardize it, that is something different. But please don't bash someone for being religious or for not being religious. |
PsyWarrior, you seem like an intelligent person, so answering this question shouldn't be a problem: what is the literal Arabic defination of the word "Islam"? |

But please don't bash someone for being religious or for not being religious. okay,....psy i want you sir,to go to down town D.C. and just point out one of them there extreamist "islamist" to me buddy .........................they all hate you and what we were founded on so untill we can point one out, ill hate them all!! by the way i have black friends and mexican friends and im a mix so dont tell me im a racist either.I HATE ISLAM AND ALL IT STANDS FOR!!!! almost forgot lets all just grow ourselves some balls and quit crybabying. |
