It is an article written by a lazy, big-city liberal writer doing his research over the internet trying to knowledgeable to the uninformed, not an article written by a SME with any level of first-hand experience.
It has numerous, obvious errors. For starters, the Ichord Hearings were in 1967, not 1971. Take it for what it's worth. |
| In all honesty, after taking apart both an AR and AK, I have decided that they are both amazing examples of mechanical engineering, however whereas the AR is brilliant, the AK is genius. Don't get me wrong, my Noveske (Pre Boating accident) was still my favorite rifle due to it's weight and accuracy. |

The AK-47 is the weapon of choice for U.S. mass murderers ![]() Uh huh. Sure. So that's why they were only able to provide two instances several years apart where one was used in a crime. AK-47 style rifles are rarely used in crimes and even rarer in mass murder type crimes. |

Quoted:
1- The inventor of the AK-47 did not profit from the gun “I invented a weapon to save the motherland, to save the state from fascism,” You were too late for that, Mikhail. Despite that country awarding him the Hero of Socialist Labor medal and many other accolades, this particular Socialist hero, who just happened to change the world, started life as an enemy of the Soviet Union. Kalashnikov narrowly escaped being shot by Stalin's special police after his family was denounced as Kulaks in 1932, and exiled to Siberia. Too bad you didn't come up with a weapon to save the world from communism. 4- The AK-47 is the U.S. army’s most resilient enemy U.S. forces first came into large-scale contact with the AK-47 during the Vietnam War. Their own M16s malfunctioned in the heat and damp of the jungle, but the Chinese-supplied AK-47s used by the communists continued to fire. Consequently, thousands of GIs picked up AK-47s from fallen Viet Cong guerrillas. This led Americans to open fire on their own side because they presumed the distinctive pop-pop-pop sound of an AK-47 revealed an enemy position. So many GIs threw away their guns in favor of AK-47s that a House of Representatives hearing in 1971 discovered that the U.S. Army attempted to stop the media reporting the phenomenon. Today, nearly 40 years later, in the sand and heat of Iraq, American soldiers are once again giving up their own U.S.-manufactured weapons in favor of the AK-47. Bullshit! 5- The AK-47 is the weapon of choice for U.S. mass murderers Make up your fucking minds, liberal retards! Tomorrow this asshat will be writing an article about how the AR-15 is the weapon of choice. And the day after that, he'll be calling for a ban on all AK-15s and AR-47s, and registration of all the ghost guns and .30 caliber clips... |
| Whether people like it or not, AK's will be around long after the last of the M16/M4 series has been retired. Why? because there's so many in the hands of non military factions and civilians in Third World countries that it is almost impossible to police. Most of the M16's and M4's overseas are in military hands. Having said that, at some point the only place people will find M16's and M4's years from now after the U.S. adopts something else will be in the hands of U.S civilians. |

Absolute BS, and the Chinese Type 56 7.62x39 rifles were not immune to reliability issues, especially with the finish. There are SF guys who dealt with them regularly on an end-user basis who will tell you they belonged in a garbage can back then even, but used them for deception on initial contact in certain units. |

On January 17, 1989, Patrick Purdey walked into the Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California, armed with a Chinese-manufactured AK-47. It was fitted with a barrel magazine holding 75 rounds — both of which he bought legally over a gun-shop counter.

The book that is the source of this sharticle is rated less than 2 stars on Amazon. The few reviews are brutal.
Amazon Reviews Pros:
Still working on the first entry here... Cons: Short on facts, details. Long on emotion and fanciful stories. Most of the book vacillates between stories of suffering, misuse, terror and alternately glorifying the Kalashnikov's mechanical appearance. Nothing new in the (very) truncated historical details. No mention of legitimate & legal use (i.e., recreational). |
