What kind of manager airs dirty laundry like this on a public forum? Who continues to badmouth an employee a year after terminating employment? By posting this I think you managed to validate a lot of what he was saying. I tried to formulate a response, but the best I could come up with is

Guys like this take the enjoyment out of earning an honest wage. |

Sometimes, an employee can't handle working for a dick(sometimes rightfully so). Kudos to you OP. Also, I should look into graphic design training . I just whipped out a four page flyer for a benefit golf tournament in PowerPoint. Not even close to my job as a mechanic. |

summerseve.jpg Maybe the industry the OP is in operates a little different than most, but I'd fully expect to get fired for posting on a public forum an email from a former employee, then badmouthing the same employee, then topping it off by badmouthing the boss (owner). The post and the OP's self congratulatory behavior seem a bit on the unprofessional side. I could give two shits about the ordeal, but just offering some constructive criticism. |

Arfcom, should I see a doctor? Yeah, it's a little long. I would have sold you that pen. And a dozen more just like it. You would have begged me for that pen. Believe it. |

Yeah, it's a little long. Actually, you write perfectly fine, and I recall your threads last year. I know of a similar situation, but as a federal employee. Everyone seems to be either utter trolls or incredibly brilliant and dedicated. However, I have no say in who gets hired. I know of a similar department head who, interviews OK, but won't hire anybody new. He won't let useless seasonal employees go, since he says he a) feels sorry for them or b) is afraid of an age discrimination lawsuit. (Seasonal fed. employees have few rights, however) These part-time seasonal employees all get away with murder (so to speak) and their work has been going downhill. (Connection? ) We have a LOT of very qualified people who apply every year, but can't get in, because he insists on keeping these folks, whose conditions and workplace/workday preferences make it so that every other seasonal employee, full-time and part-time, has to be scheduled around them...why does he keep them? Well, one's black, one's Asian, one's gay...is there a connection? Hmmmm....
When someone's ethnicity or sexuality is more important than his or her work quality, things go downhill fast. We're hoping this supervisor finally understands that. I'm not holding my breath, however.

I could give two shits about the ordeal, but just offering some constructive criticism. all of that not to mention posting clearly identifiabe projects done by that former employee... Projects that are property of the company that the person in question no longer works for. No details, names, locations, etc in the first post. The ex-employee had no promise, guarantee, or realistic expectations of privacy with his/her "I'm pissed that I got fired and here's why..." e-mail. While some places may have some sort of employment contract that prohibits you from doing what OP did, that doesn't mean all employers enforce the same regulations. OP didn't do anything wrong other than tell GD a story about an employee he canned for various reasons. |

Next time ya gotta fire one, just set them on fire.
Then in the future, they wont get all pissy about just getting fired.
BTW. Dude ya fired? Yeah, ya did the right thing. Artsy shit escapes me, but if you think the guy half assed when asked to step it up, then argued, he wasn't the right tool for the job in the first place. Employees exist to make a profit, not angst. I still think setting them on fire would work though.;) |
