I did a search for this caliber as a topic and found nothing, so I'm posting this question. Does anyone here have any experience with this caliber. I'm looking at getting the CZ model 3 lefthand in this caliber unless someone has a better alternative.

Thanks guys,

Chris

No first hand experience.  I know a guy who played with one that had an OPS INC brake on it.  Said it kicked like a .243 and was a real shooter.  From other sources, it appears the .300 WSM is a hot little round, I'd go for it.

I hunt with a couple of guys that have 300wsm. It is here to stay. One has an A-Bolt, very accurate, lots of kick. The other is a Model 70 also very accurate and lots of kick. No porting on either barrel. The 300wsm is becoming very popular, I would recommend it.

My GF just got one, a Savage light weight model. She loves it. Doesn't think it kicks so much. But then, she shoots a .50 bmg also Gotta like a woman like that.

I have a Ruger M77 in 7mm WSM.
Ammo looked expensive ($20- $30 a box) so I bought dies, 100 pieces of brass and 100 bullets for $84.  I already have primers and powder so I can load 100 rounds for less than it would have cost me for 5 boxes of factory ammo.  I will still have the brass and dies and can load it a couple more times at least so I think I did alright.

To answer your question, the 300 WSM is a great round and I think you will be very happy with it.

I have a 270 WSM and a friend has the 300 WSM.  The 300 WSM is a fine cartridge.  With factory ammo, it is almost identical to the 300 Win Mag.  With handloads, it can get about 98% of the Win Mag's maximum velocity with 180 grain bullets.

It has somewhat less recoil than a 300 Win Mag.

It should be cheaper to shoot in the long run versus the Win Mag, as brass is already cheaper, you use less powder, and you should be able to use the brass more times because it headspaces on the shoulder rather than the belt.

There are a number of reasons why it should be slightly more accurate than a 300 Win Mag.  But I doubt there is really much difference in that regard.

The action is a little shorter on these rifles, and you can also shorten the barrel a little without sacrificing performance compared to a standard magnum, so you get a lighter and shorter rifle.

At least where I live, ammo is pretty easy to find.

Both my Winchester and my friend's Browning are accurate and have really  knocked them down.

Winchester makes a left-handed Sporter and Featherweight, which would be my preference, but from what I understand the CZs are good rifles too.
