Just from looking at it, I bet it costs over $25 per round.

Now THAT is a home/neighboorhood defense round.

Imagine a speedfeed stock full of those...

"Hm...there's a burglar outside the window. Do I go with birdshot, buckshot, or HE? Margret, can you check to see if he's wearing body armor?"

The second gun I ever really wanted.

I like the ability to give the shotgun a little punch.
But, I prefer the XM109 25mm Payload Rifle for the majority of similar uses.

Yup. Definitely a DD.

Wow willing to bet a lot more than that.

A M203 round arms a lot further out. Something like 14 meters IIRC

I'm betting that the proportion of distance to volume of HE is about the same

Look at that casing. Do you want to be 10 feet away when it blows?
Link Posted: 8/12/2005 10:30:17 AM EDT
That would be a great anit-per. round too. I wonder what it would do to a level III vest?

Yes, but 12 gauge is cheap enough to be issued en-masse, what else is, any soldier can get his hands on a 12ga (I'm sure getting issued a few of those rounds wouldn't be a problem if they start producing them en-masse), unlike a 25mm special-purpose rifle and ammo.

That's way cool. The insurgents don't have a chance (nor did they ever against the USMC).

Apples and oranges.

I think I'll need a Box-O-Truth run on this before I make any final decisions

These frag-12s are going to cost a small fortune by the looks of them, 25mm is by far cheaper.

That's just a protorype. I'd bet a mass-produced version would be very much stamped. I was thinking with looks like those of a scaled-down 2.75-inch FFAR (with the little fins stuffed into the shell-casing, in the powder).

Ooooo I want one thousand rounds..... Maybe we can use them to put down deathrow inmates.

Just don't shoot any out of an extra full choke, umkay.

Pffft...no guidance system?

That makes a MasterKey set-up almost worthwhile.

I can see the grin on OP now.

I want to see a gel test. Bet the wound channel is impressive, although I doubt this round will merely wound anyone it hits.

Think AMMOMAN will have factory seconds?

Really?
1. The article mentions detonation of mines and improvised explosives. Spot on for the XM109. That's one of the reasons it was developed.
2. Disabling of a vehicle engine? I'd rather have the XM109.

However, I already agreed that adding punch to cheap and very common weapon (shotgun) is a good idea.

Cool........as long as it goes OCONUS to shoot more Hadjis I'm perfectly happy.......yes, it would be nice to own though lol.........
