SyFy series about the Zombie Apocalypse.  It's on right now.

It's about a group trying to get a zombie-immune guy from NYC to Cali, to the last remaining lab in the country, so they can make a cure from his blood.

It's kind of SyFy quality but it has a lot of good moments.  Especially the zombies on Ritalin and Viagra...

It's terrible, but people like it because it's not TWD. I watched an episode and couldn't tell if it was a spoof zombie show or if they're actually trying to be serious with all of the bad acting and cheesy situations. I know TWD has some weird moments, but this show seems to be one from start to finish.

I wouldn't bother. It's pretty fucking bad. Also, you'll probably feel obligated to keep watching, thinking to yourself, "There's no way this show can be such a turd. It must get better."

It doesn't.

In this household, it's part of a genre we call "Bad TV".

It sucks. The acting sucks, the plot sucks, the script sucks, the camera work sucks, the premise of the whole damn thing sucks....but it's campy and entertaining enough to watch, when nothing else is on...or you just want mindless drivel on the tube.

The Viagra Zombies episode was actually a bright spot in the series so far, and good for a chuckle.

There has a been a LOT worse on the Sci-fi  and Chiller channel, and lately, with History 1&2 sucking goats ass, AHC playing nothing but shit and religious stuff, and Discovery gone the way of the previous two...it fills a void.

I am honestly waiting for "Owww my Balls" and "Ass, the movie" to hit. TV programming has tanked for the last 2-3 years.

Yep.

I came home and "Ridiculousness" was on the other day.
I realized that "Owww my Balls" is in concept on some producers desk right now.
It's going to happen and there is no turning back.

I have watched it.

It is a cut above the typical Sy Fy crap, but it a couple of cuts below a real TV series.  Still, the doc and the kid are entertaining enough for me to keep up.  I don't watch all that much on TV, so I am easily amused.

Caught one episode. I won't catch another.

In my defense, aside from Walking Dead and a couple movies (Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead, and WWZ) I am not the biggest zombie fan.

If it lights your fire, rock on. It doesn't do much of anything for me. For me, Z Nation is that tertiary type of creativity that generally means a genre is getting worn out.

First level = the original source material. In this case, the Night of the Living Dead and the like. There is social commentary in these productions that audiences may or may not understand.

Second level = inspired derivatives. Zombieland, SoTD, WWZ. Walking Dead also. Social commentary may be there but it could be buried or refocused.

Third level = uninspired derivatives. No social commentary, only focuses on the hollow "cool" aspects of the first and second levels of creative work noted above. The real creators have moved on to other projects or categories, and nobody is left to breathe life into the genre. Genre dies out. It may or may not come back, as a "revival".

(I came up with this model based off music, but doggone if it doesn't work with other movements as well).

Dude, that was WAAAY more thinking than the show deserves! LOL

So, general consensus is it's better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Or not.

Its not a bad show, it sort of has an identity crisis at times bouncing back and forth between Zomielandesque antics and human struggle like in The Walking Dead.  It does seem to be getting better, the writing and acting isn't very strong, but its better than watching American Idol or Dancing with the stars.  45 minutes of entertainment each week, why not?

OP, the hopped up zombies were a riot.

This series is kind of corny but it grows on you.  I was unhappy when the sergeant got killed off though.  He was a natural leader of the group.

They need to introduce a couple of new, interesting characters into the group of survivors.

You realize the original social commentary from Romero is complete and absolute shit, as are any newer Romero film having to do with zombies, right?

Derp derp derp, consumerism, derp derp.

Romero could have taken a non-classical complete bullshit social commentary and instead focused on how people react to outside forces that unerringly are attempting to kill you and everyone you know. You have a ton of opportunity to take a stance on how governments come into power and the power that new governments (no matter how big or small) become corrupt if you aren't vigilant. Instead he makes a comment about people being too focused on malls.
