XXX with vin diesel, worst big budget action movie ever?
besides the obvious complete crap, i love how their "heat seaker rocket launcher" is a sony handi-cam with a pvc tube attached, painted green. thoughts? |

somebody was watching FX tonight I see..
yes, XXX was horrible... I really liked how he opened up the revolver, spun the cylinder to the 'fake blood round' (with the required mystery clicking noise) and closed it with that round under the hammer... so I guess in Hollywood, revolvers don't revolve when you pull the trigger... and no, I didn't watch it on FX tonight, but I was reminded of that scene as I walked into one of my patients rooms tonight and saw it on their TV. |

XXX wasn't that bad it was a mindless action movie meant to be cool looking and thats it. Last Action Hero is a classic is a satire of action films, and when actors are willing to poke fun at themselves that win in my book. Now if you want to watch the worst action movie ever go watch either The Marine with John Cena, or Babylon A.D. now thats crap. |

The Steven Segal one in Alaska was very bad. I have had Punisher War Zone sitting around the house for two weeks unfinished and read my breath taking review of Transporter 3 for another dog of an action movie. I also liked Last Action Hero even if only two of us in the country did  I remember seeing the Dolph Lungren Punisher on late at night on HBO after coming home from the bars years ago, it was hilarious. Dude had black shoe polish in his hair.

In the film, The Cutting Edge, about film editing in Hollywood, the director talks about cubism in movie editing and capturing a stunt from several angels ala when Vin Disel jumps the fence on his motor bike. The director called it cubism.  Okay, XXX is just like what Pablo Picasso was doing.
Man Rule: If you choose your own nickname like Disel or T-Bone, you automatically get the nickname sheetstain. The Cutting Edge is a great documentary if anyone is interested in learning more about editing. |
I was watching it last night too. I was especially amused when they were paralleling AHAB in the GTO and the chick was reading the instruction manual for the car: "Harpoon gun, parachutes in seats, break-away roof... nothing we can use!"  Everything you could possibly need and ended up using!

You have to look at it from a gaming perspective.
The part in the warehouse and the getaway boat was literally ripped from the last level of Silent Scope. If you treat the whole thing as a parody of itself and a general reflection on the entertainment industry as a whole, then it's amazing. |
