You get points for creativity but lose points for not making productive use of your time. Magpul already did a good job with this product. Except the ranger plates don't work with the new gen mags. The magpul doesn't work? Not on gen3, at least that's what I've heard..I've got 5 or 6 gen 3's but no ranger plates Edit: oops, I see what you're asking. I don't know if the magpuls will work |

The mags pictured are Gen2 and I was not referring to ranger plates. What the OP made is the same concept as the original Magpuls, and they work on the Gen3 mags very well. But thank you for your participation in this thread 13er.

Thanks for all the input fellas! I figured I could get some good responses on here, so I thank you all for taking the time to do so.
I realize Magpul has there version of this, but mined cost me less than $1 in paracord so I figured I'd do my own! I don't use AR's for anything were a mag change is critical so I wasn't sure if it offered any real advantage for those that do. I mostly hunt with mine so the color coding is the main thing it does for me. The other thing I like about this (on the thermold mag in particular) is that when I place the wrap just below the magwell, it makes a magwell grip more comfortable and controllable, if that's how you like to shoot. Thanks again fellas for all the input, God bless you all, Adam |

The only 2 benefits I see is if you want to identify the mags if you are using different loads such as tracers and using the paracords for emergency situation similar to the bracelets that I see being sold at gunshows. I was thinking both of these things myself. You can never have enough paracord if you are out in the wilderness. |
| The one with the loop would catch on everything. But people do love there mag loops. Bought 75 mags from a guy. Every mag had a loop tapped on. The first post woth out loop would be kinda cool on a survial gun. Giving the user X amount of paracord for survival. Neat idea. Id buy one if i wasnt living in Ny. |
I like Ranger Plates. That para cord looks like a butterfly tramp stamp... on a guy. But thats how the Magpul got started. Rubber version of the 100 mph tape and para cord. If you like it, fuck the haters. Too thick for my pouches. Does it fit in your chest rig?
