iPhone 8 might be able to take a charge 15 feet away from the charger.
Link.
Possible? Yeah, I suppose, theoretically. I'll believe it when I see it, I guess. |

Quoted:
very possible, go hold up a fluorescent tube under some high tension wires. however, also very inefficient. Inverse cube (or square, I don't care enough to think overmuch about which applies here) law and all that. |

I hear distance charging is super wasteful Like it spoke ur power bill. Something like %4 or the power actually ends up in your phone. Meh.... APPLE QUIT MAKING IT THINNER, PUT A LARGER BATTERY |

I wouldn't want one if I had mercury fillings
CONCLUSION: Exposure of patients with amalgam restorations to radiofrequency radiation emitted from conventional Wi-Fi devices can increase mercury release from amalgam restorations. |

Inverse square law between magnetic field strength and induced current means this will be inefficient but definitely possible.
Orientation of the phone will also be an issue - projected area of the induction coil in direction of magnetic field. I don't think there's a link between magnetic fields and cancer, do you? It might give homing pigeons and bees a false indication of how to get home but,... |
