I am still having problems with the Windows 8 charms bar. Supposedly, you activate it via mouse or touch screen by moving the cursor to the upper right corner of the screen. My problem is that it will activate if my cursor is ANYWHERE on the right half of the screen! And when it activates, the cursor freezes in place. Of course it only does this randomly, never when I need it to.

There's a registry hack to change this but I don't care to go there. Is there anyway to disable this w/o altering the registry?

Update: I tried the registry update and it didn't work.

I found out that the Charms Bar will activate (sometimes) if I drag my cursor right-to-left from the right 1/2 of the screen. To prevent this I start the drag going down, up or slightly rightward.

This is intended to inform those who have a similar problem. This fix is not known to void the warrantee provided by Microsoft Corporation, Inc. or any of its subsidiaries.

The fix I heard about is to install Windows 7, or Linux.

I see you tried the top right of the screen...have you tried pointing to the bottom right instead? I could never get the charms bar to come up unless I pointed to the bottom right

You could also get familiar with the keyboard shortcut: windows key + c

And if it is touchscreen, just slide your finger inward from the screen's right edge

I just had to look up what the charm bar was

I'm posting from a Surface Pro and I just slide my finger from the right side of the screen toward the center to get it to show up. Yesterday I had my Bluetooth mouse connected but didn't use it a lot.

So far the only thing I don't like about Win 8 is that with a second monitor hooked up, it really doesn't work well. Impossible to get Modern apps and desktop to play nicely together on separate monitors.
