Alright here is the deal.  My Windows XP is freezing at about a minute after start up.  Like it totally locks down... I am able to use it in Safe mode.  I have the service packs and everything.  My specs are AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800 1gig of ram, NVIDIA Geforce 7800 GTX.  I can't figure it out...

Any help would be appreciated...

Yeah I can login and it is able to work on safe mode.  It just freezes up for no reason that I can think of.  I have tried just back dating to a time that it didn't have that problem...

Oh and I have checked to make sure that it isn't anything overheating.  I used to make computers.  I don't ever have problems figuring out hardware problems it's the software ones that stump me.

Then my guess is a driver issue, or hardware is going bad.

Or maybe a key file is corrupt, or the hard drive has bad sectors (not likly)

Does the system log have anything juicy written?

Hey thanks for the tip!  I found out what the problem was and now I have fixed it.  It had been something called DCOM that had caused the computer to glitch and freeze up for some wierd reason.  Now that I have it disabled I am able to use the computer without any hitches!

Look in the system and application event logs, any errors or warnings?
