A friend of mine asked to help him with his computer. It seems that when ever he turns it on it asks for a password. He has one but it's never accepted and asks for it again. How can I get him into his computer and make this password crap go away?

I was having the same problem till I figured it out. |

You can't do anything after that without entering the password. Can you give us a screenshot of the login screen? ;) If it's a local and he doesn't know it...do the first thing in this thread. If it's a microsoft login, he can reset it from any other computer first...then follow the link I put in so it doesn't use a password to get in. |

If you read my link closer, you will see you need to boot to a windows 8 disk, you do not boot to the installed windows. It does work and it will fix your issue. You may however have to go into the BIOS and enable booting to a cd before it will work for you. Quoted:
