UD= uncommanded discharge

Whether it was in the holster, transitioning to/from the holster or just being handled.

Has yours, or have you witnessed (not on film or word of mouth) a p320 UD?

We've all been exposed to the p320 debacle via internet, news and videos. Threads keep popping up in GD. Im just curious if anyone here has had a personal experience with it.

We had a member here who ND'd his modified Glock, IIRC.

All the 2 gun matches I've done this year have had us start pistol hot and low ready.  I'm convinced it's because they don't want people having to mess with holstering a hot gun.  All last year it was pistol starts hot and holstered.

I gave personally discussed the results of the investigations with the armorers who did the the forensic after action reports on approximately 10 Sig 320 uncommanded discharges. All 10 were proved to be user error.

Ah, the super trustworthy Sig armorers...

Fundamentally that gun never should have been sold without a manual safety, assuming that was even true.

It's been witnessed and is on video.

My son is friends with one of them. It’s been interesting seeing him go from Sig fan and “the 320 is just fine” to “I’m very careful about where this thing is pointed”.  Not sure what happened, but his attitude definitely shifted over time.

Sig has dozens of people there every day with clapped out loaner guns as well as personal 320s and doesn't have an ND or UD issue at their facility. Seems strange one way or another

Ive been to 6 classes this year and 11 last year.   There were 320s at all of them, no issues.   Though we did have one guy shoot himself in the calf with his 1911.....that was entertaining

Pity is the 320 now has a stigma attached to it that will never be forgotten.
Regardless of the cause they might as well just shelve the whole system.
Sig could have got out in front when the whole issue started, from the firing when dropped to the claimed UDs, no turning back now.

Not without effectively sharing my name, address, phone number, and employer. Sorry.

Everyone involved still remembers talking to me. Several of them are probably members here.

I would like to point out, I'm in no way supportive of the Sig 320 as a firearm. It's a dogshit design that should've never left the conceptual phase for a variety of reasons.

The 320 crawled so that the 365 and Echelon could run.

NGL that’s good advice no matter what the gun, isn’t it?

They probably aren't worried about it.  Officers with Glocks were popping holes in all sorts of things throughout the 90's when manipulating their weapons.  Hell even NYPD had Glock come out with a 12 pound trigger pull to try and mitigate it.  Then the 40 cal came out and wasn't reliable with a flashlight on.  So much so that many departments were given free 9mm pistols in exchange until Glock figured out the issue.  Here a few decades later and everyone was up in arms as to why the US military didn't pick the Glock.

I've never shot heroin, and I've never even known anyone first hand that uses it, but I know that it's in the best interest of my health and welfare to never, ever try it. Just say'n.

ETA, I finally got around to selling mine on LGS consignment. Feels good man. Small problem is I still have an extra sand colored frame, and a bunch of new mags for the full sized and compact. Maybe one day I'll sell those here on the EE. So far my gut has guided me to avoid the EE for opsec reasons, but who knows?

How many never even considered them because of sigs reputation for expensive magazines, stayed away after the first drop safe voluntary upgrade, and casually watched the "ends today" dogpile from a safe distance?

I'm a RO at a range and personally shoot a P320.  Never seen or heard of a UD by one.

On the other hand, I've had to DQ 3 people with Ruger 10/22s for them going off in a match while reloading (nothing touching the trigger).  Each was a racegun with an aftermarket (but big name) trigger.  Those things are dangerous.

My rules of gun safety include "Treat every gun as if it is a Sig P320."

I  have not nor do I own a P320. Only reason is that they don’t conceal well on me.  I alternate between a P365 and a S&W 36 Chief’s Special.

But I do sell them at a LGS. When I’m questioned about them and their reliability I tell t(em that the initial recall involved a drop test that exceeded SAMMI guidelines. I add the fact that our MSP transitioned its Troopers to the M18 variant last year.

About half the time the story about the Airman  last year who was killed in the barracks  that was initially blamed on a ND is brought up. When it’s not I bring it up as most have heard about it but not the final outcome, that being it a case of barracks horseplay gone wrong, homicide charges against one Airman  and two other Airmen charged with giving false statements in the incident.

We don’t know all the variables that could come into play here, improper holster, handling of the firearm, trigger jobs/Bubba the “gunsmith”working on it, a whole bunch of possibilities.

I give the facts and let the customer proceed.

I’m not sure if an actual problem exists….but the amount of claims an issue exists is troubling. I never liked the 320 to begin with, just don’t like the look / grip etc, this just makes me not want one extra hard.

Right, right, right, and I didnt watch a security guard walk out of a shack, rest his hand on the grip, and the gun go off... oh wait, I bet everyone here saw that video!

I don't know if it's an actual problem either, and I actually liked the P320s I've shot. I still have one set up for USPSA. But I don't trust it, and I wouldn't carry one. It's not worth it to take the chance when other guns are just as good.

The Kel-Tec SUB2000 Multi Mag version & SIG's new doublestack 2011 both take your 320 mags.  If you have a Dremel, they'll even take the compact mags.

The saddest people at the gun show are guys walking around trying to sell their .40 S&W SIG P320s.

I have one in my safe.  I no longer trust it.  It may be fine but what SIG has done or not done to address the apparent issue is unforgivable.   I refuse at this time to support them and will no longer buy anything with the SIG logo on it.  Nor do I advise anyone to purchase anything SIG.

It sucks ass that I have an X5 Legion just sitting there waiting...

Shameful.
