I'm looking to get a Samsung BD-P1600 BluRay player. It has an ethernet jack to connect to my router so I can watch Netflix instant movies. I'll be running it  from behind the TV down to the basement, then back up to the computer desk––about a 30' run total.

What cable do I need? Cat5e or Cat 6? Straight or Crossover? Regardless, I know to buy from Monoprice.

Thanks!

Any benefit from going with either 5 or 6?

not at 30 feet or at any speed you will be running at home.

you just need the 5

the 6 isnt much more in price... may want to get it in case you decide to run 10gps ethernet or something later.
