What happens when you cut the whiskers off of a dog? I'm curious because I think my boxer got the bad end of the scissors from my 7 year old brother

I don't think it will do any harm to them.
There are a lot of dog breeds that need regular grooming and have their wiskers cut off in the process.
Or, our poodle does not seem to mind.

Their whiskers are usually the same width as their body, so they won't be able to judge if they can walk behind the couch and squeeze between the couch and the wall. If you can't find you dog for a couple of hours, check between your furniture and your walls.

They help warn the animal if they are about to hit something with their head. Touch a cat's whiskers and he will blink.
