It's been a while since I've heard anything. Is everyone still selling their P320's? Any new accidental/negligent/uncommanded discharges? Any conclusions? Did the internet stop caring? |
|
They refused to admit there was a problem, but quietly changed them so they did not have the not problem. ETA, I think they also tried to sue some people for not using their guns. Obviously excellent company with excellent products that they stand behind (you better if you know what is good for you). |

I saw they filed an updated patent, but did anyone actually confirm they implemented a change? To answer OP, nothing. The 320 is still a POS |

Quoted: SUPS? Quoted: Quoted: SUPS is banning P320's after another holstered, and hands not touching the handgun, uncommanded discharge. SUPS? Southern Utah Practical Shooters range Its one of the larger ranges in the US, and one of the few with enough room to host national level events. Funny enough, they announced the ban very recently, while USPSA has their Factory Gun Nationals scheduled there this year... with Sig as the title sponsor ![]() USPSA had to ruin everyone's fun though and found a work around, likely by using their own insurance policy to cover its use at the event. |

For the ban: https://www.supsrange.com/newsletter I dont have any information on the recent incident that spurred this, but there is video of a shooter injuring themselves with a p320 at Race Gun Nationals last year at SUPS. Not sure if that was an ND or an uncommanded discharge though. |
Funny enough:![]() Sigcident triggers another sig ban |

Quoted: Seems like it petered out after that shitbag airman at FEWAFB was fiddling around with his 320 and shot his buddy, then tried blaming the pistol. That was an enormous good fortune for SIG. Maximum outrage and then turns out the guy is lying. Regardless of whether or not the 320 has a problem, a non insignificant percentage of these incidents are just accidents or people flat out lying. The only SIGs I own are a 228 and a 232 so no dog in this fight. |

The SIG 320 could very well have a problem. Half of these incidents could very well be accidents and/or people lying. Both things can be true. |

My take is the gun design or manufacturing leads to a higher than average rate of UDs but still within acceptable limits. It's a widely produced gun with millions out there over the past decade and social media blows the UD reporting out of proportion. That and some of the discharges are probably due to modifications, improper maintenance, and holster issues. The problem is SIG responded in the worst possible way by ignoring it, threatening legal action, and their media responses. I mean they termed their last 320 trigger recall an "upgrade". Things would've been fine if they just were upfront about everything and throw a small fix in. That's what Remington did with their trigger recall even though there was nothing wrong with it and it was likely due to improper modifications. It was compounded by ranges and instructors banning the 320s, not necessarily because they thought it was a bad gun, but due to insurance liability requirements. |

LOL. I guess Ben's got me covered. |

What's an acceptable number of holes in your leg? |
|
Quoted: What's an acceptable number of holes in your leg? Everything you own has acceptable limits or else we'd never use them. Electrical appliances catch fire, vehicles malfunction causing crashes, ammo misfires, etc. What are the odds of one properly maintained unmodified P320 carried correctly going off today? Probably one in a billion or less? |
|
Quoted: My city agency is still using them. We don't have any complaints. Quoted: Quoted: Texas DPS is still using them. Troopers and Rangers I've spoken to have no complaints. Small sample size obviously. My city agency is still using them. We don't have any complaints. ICE is still using them. Pretty much the new hires/rehired annuitants are being issued Glocks. The P320s have been in service since sometime in 2020. |

It appears SIG is ignoring it and hoping the issue continues to be quiet and eventually goes away. There has been much less commenting about it lately and SIG probably thinks that is great and that things will continue to get more and more quiet and eventually fade into the background when people will forget about it. What they should do is to quit making the 320's and whenever one gets sent in for repair, they keep it and offer the customer an equal value on another pistol they can purchase. Over time that would reduce the number of 320's out there. I notice on television gun shows the 320 is often used in demonstrations...my guess is that SIG sent a bunch of the pistols to the shows so they would get some positive press, and in exchange the people on the shows get to keep the pistols they were sent. |
