All, ARFCOM is getting this first. It will be up on the APC website shortly. Before I post the events list, I'd like to mention that I am aware there are a number of you with inquiries that have gone unanswered so far (Charles, I haven't forgotten you). We had a discussion among the board of directors this past week regarding the issue of connecting interested parties with local organizations and some of the challenges we are working to overcome. Please be patient. Below is our tentative schedule of events for 2023. It should firm up shortly, and a couple additional events may be added. This is not inclusive of local events, which we are happy to assist with- this is strictly nationally and regionally sponsored and directly planned/supported events. These events are all either free, or nearly free- and most equipment can be provided if you do not posses your own. All of these events will be physically intensive in one way or another, and it is recommended you start hiking and exercising now if you plan to attend. These events are appropriate for adults and teens, but generally pre-teens will not be permitted to participate. ETA: @Ben It is pioneer engineering- so, basic physical construction, taking down trees, doing engineer reconnaissance of roads and waterways, basic fire fighting skills...probably not what you're imagining. |

Quoted: Do you have to be a member of APC to join these events? It doesn't look like there's a chapter near me (Near Louisville). Not at all. Many (most) of us had to start our own Chapters. It's actually pretty easy. Just post in Hometown, or bring your buddies to hike to get started. |

I'm doing stuff in the SW area (treasure valley), but we had some guys doing things up north was well. I think there was discussion of a few guys meeting in SE, but I haven't been tracking on that. I think they were possibly trying to link with the UT guys to get something going over that direction. @dorcas feel free to pm me and I'll try to get any questions answered |

Quoted: There is APC in Arizona now? People have a misconception that you have to "join" for APC things. You don't. You just have to do things, while abiding by APCs standards and rules. And once you have a few buddies involved and regularly doing things, ask and APC will help you with events that require more specialized equipment an average person isn't reasonably expected to have. And there where actually a bunch of APC involved folks in Arizona, but the guy running it PCSd overseas and they kind of went silent. Help us, help you. We'd like at least ten participants for the AZ events to justify them. Looks like an ambitious and solid schedule. I’ll be attending at least a few of these. For anyone reading this thread who’s on the fence about giving the APC a shot, do it. It’s worth it. I’ve been involved with the APC since early 2020. I thought that I was pretty squared away prior to getting involved but the improvement to my fitness, skills, preparedness, and overall competence has been remarkable. Not to mention all of the friends I’ve made and cool stuff I’ve done. |

I'm in Northern Idaho (W. Washington actually). Sounds like it may be a bit of a trip to do anything. |
