So I'm sitting here, taking a break from studying, reading a post, all of the sudden I hear the noise of our hose coming on. It makes a funny noise, I look at my dog, open up the back porch walk around the side of the house there's a truck sitting in front of my house with a guy at my hose filling a gatorade bottle or whatever with water, I said was shocked. He didn't see me until he finished I said "Hey, What're you doing?" he turned around said "Oh sorry." I don't know I didn't go over the top, I just said "Next time at least ask." He said "OK, sorry." and got out of my yard... I probably should have flipped out. I don't know really what I could do other than call the business and complain, but that stuff...exact reason I'm trying to talk my mom into a Handgun. ![]() I'll make sure it gets to the construction boss in the neighborhood or head and to my mom, but that's just unbelievable, you know? I think they thought no one was home. |

Not to shoot him, just people walking up into our yard, etc, we don't have a fence (yet) and you can see the whole back of our house through our back glass door. I just don't like the idea of people messing with my property when I'm not home, I don't care if you use a little bit of water or whatever. Just the principle of it, What else are they doing when we're not home that we're not aware of you know? |
|
I didn't think that that portion of what I said would be that blown out of proportion, I guess I gave off the impression I was going to shoot him over it. I just simply, Well let me put it this way, would you be concerned if you saw someone in your garage or using your hose, or messing around with your car, or opening your mail box? Same principle. I just don't like the fact they're that comfortable that when nobody's watching they'll do that, I don't care about the water. What if I left the garage open and my car parked in it and they grabbed some stuff or something, you know? |
Oh, I agree with you to a point, but first off this is Arfcom GD. Secondly, IF you ever did have to shoot in self defense statments like that wont get you far. |
That didn't even occur to me. I was quoting what was being quoted there. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azaria_Chamberlain_disappearance |
Um I mean I would ask him to leave. |
|
| i see your point on getting the pistol. i mean, if people see your house as vulnerable enough to take your water or wander into your yard, who's to say that they may not intend to do something else, like steal or break in? i, for one, dont think you intend on shooting every person that walks across the street in front of your house, but i hate it when people just dont give a crap about another persons property. that is the usually the main component of being a criminal...not caring about other people's belongings or privacy. |

Back home, the state dept. of transportation workers would use our hose hydrant out front during warm weather asphalting and road work to fill their round coolers to make Gatorade. We always brought them ice as well. We never had a problem with them using water since they were bettering our drive into town. Guess whose driveway received extra care during snowplowing? |

Good Lord, people, he never said he would shoot the guy for stealing his water. He was making the point that people don't seem to have any fear or shame about trespassing and stealing in broad daylight. Sure, stealing the water is somewhat trivial in the big scheme of things, but the point is he wants his Mom to have a handgun for protection should someone else have a more sinister motive than simply filling up an empty Gatorade container. |

....IT WASN'T A DAMN DRAW DOWN SITUATION! I never said it was I never advocated it, I never claimed I was going to double tap through the kitchen wall trying to get the Bad Guy, or shoot out their tires and get a SHTF barricade up. I just said, I thought it was weird people would stop their truck on the street passing by, get out walk over to our hose, and feel totally fine with my car in the drive way (Which the truck was pull up next to) in broad day light and fill their container full of water. Further more I went onto state this is why I want my mom to get a hand gun, What I meant by that, is simply I'm moving out in a few years (college student so, broke) and I'm concerned that people comfortably do something like that without a second thought. Nowhere did I state I'd shoot them, present a firearm, or become hostile over it, which I clearly did not, I was just uncomfortable and slightly disturbed by the fact they did it. If I wanted to shoot him, I would've grabbed my rifle from my room, shot the driver in the truck and then shot him while he ran. If I was the "Brady Poster boy". I didn't mean to portray a message, over even bring up guns other than that one statement. So let me say this again. I HAD NO INTENTION OF PRESENTING A FIREARM, AND/OR USING ONE, I WAS CURIOUS WHY THE HOSE WAS TURNED ON I discovered somebody using it, and was concerned, my dialogue proves that I didn't go over board or get irrate or do something irresponsible, I told the guy at least ask next time, and he said okay and apologized for the second time. Maybe this was a bad idea for a thread. |
He said he was gonna have his mommy do it for him!!
|
NO WAY! This is great!!! |
On ARFcom? You bet. (FWIW, I agree that you were right to confront the guy. It was very rude of him to assume he could just walk on to your property and use your hose without asking. But the some of the comments here are funny as hell. Sorry, can't help myself.) |

There's another man on the side walk, walking by, looks like a realtor...should I knife him and hide him in the garage? My mommy? Yea, I was too scared, I couldn't speed dial her fast enough. I wish, honestly, I wish she would get a handgun, people's houses get cased and robbed like that all the time. Oh well, this was a bad idea for a thread. |
