Thanks to a civilian source in Mosul, I have some footage of an attack on or near the American consulate up there, and the soldiers' response. If you don't find it impressive in its ferocity, you'll at least agree that it's loud. I'm sorry I can't stream these files. My server doesn't support it. The back story on this battle is thus: A civilian in Mosul sent me this footage of an August battle between American forces and insurgents in Mosul. The people in shorts and t-shirts are not contractors; they're soldiers who got caught up in the battle when it flared up suddenly. They popped on some body army and got into the fight. From my source: It's deadly around here -- we are right against the city, not out in the boonies. I wasn't here ten days before a firefight broke out about 50 meters from the office I work in. [This is the video sent to me -- CA] I've lost count of the car bombs, and the mortars are commonplace. Had two guys in a Stryker brigade killed last Tuesday -- car bomb outside the gate. Avoid this place -- do not come up here; without military security you will get killed. These videos were shot by a soldier and given to the civilian. I suspect it was a little digital camera that had MP4 recording capability, but I don't really know. Anyway, this shows you a little of what combat -- and life -- is like in Mosul. We've been hearing that Mosul is in danger of turning into a Fallujah of the north. When I get back to Iraq in mid-November -- yes, you read that correctly -- I'll be up north and have an embed opportunity. Then we'll get to see more of what's going on. |

I don't know what they were shooting at or why they were shooting at it. But they were certainly pouring some lead downrange. It must have been a real target for the celebratory comments made afterwards. It is a shame so many people do not understand why soldiers cheer when they successfully engage the enemy. I suppose it would seem barbaric to many. They do need to learn not to celebrate the moment the shooting stops, and to stay down. Iraqi snipers may not be the best, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then... |
Army troops over here don't have civilian attire for the most part, so on their down time they put on their PT gear: gray shirts and black shorts. |

FUCKIN' A-GET SOME!!! Those troops are kicking some serious ASS! I just love that second video. That thing should be posted on every TV channel in America to SHOW how our American troops are REALLY doing in this WAR (NOT "police action"). Play it a couple of time and listen carefully. They are clearly having a great time killing terrorists. The dialogue is fucking priceless and I LOVE the work that Ma Deuce gunner is doing!!! Then, when that rocket hits the BGs...the troops go NUTS! Fun...fun...fun. I'm forwarding this.  A REAL Band of Brothers at work!

What OS are you running, if you have the older an OS, you may not be able play them because they need the newer versions Windows Media Player and it's asscociated CODECs. Or DivX player software. ------ I heard a female voice also. Man, those are brave souls. |
Eric, I'll take an educated guess and say that explosion in the second vid was the AT-4 that was being readied at the end of the first vid..They probably fired it straight up the raghead's ass. If so, good on them!!!!! I'm only home a week and every time I see something like this I have this sudden urge to go back....I must be nuts..

They were off duty in PT gear at the time of the attack, They didn't bother getting all decked out just grabbed the body armor (That John Kerry wouldn't buy him) and engaged the enemy. |

The comentary is great. Anybody catch the "Hey Little Bit, Smile" whe the camera was on the female? How bout the "Back Blast would have been nice" I really like the already mentioned comment"Fuck It they are shootin everything else" now maybe we should add "Can I get me a huntin liscense here?"......maybe not |
