| I've got a GoPro and want to turn the videos into a usable product. Some of the videos were even filmed upside down. What software do you guys use? |
|
Windows Live Movie Maker.
It's free and it works good enough for my needs. Here's a sample with a title & still on the front of the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubrJR0ApNb4 Can't imbed for some reason |

The software it comes with is good for cuts and rotations. Adobe Premiere for actual editing. See if you can get CS6 still (stand-alone license, one time payment). There is a huge uproar with Adobe going to Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) and charging monthly fee for their software. Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 for editing, adding titles, small effects. Adobe After Affects CS6 for adding larger special effects. Adobe Media Encoder CS6 for rendering final edits from Premiere and After Affects (should come with one of these, just make sure). If you cannot get the CS6 license, you may have to get the new Adobe CC versions of Premiere Pro and After Effects and pay a monthly fee. Check out CreativeCow.net link for tutorials on CS6, and if you have to get CC, can still use tutorials. |

Sony Vegas is the easiest to get into. Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro, etc. are only if you're into serious editing. I had a lot of trouble adjusting to Vegas's interface. Some people love it, other people don't. Anyone considering Vegas should use the trial software first to make sure they like the way it works. I found Final Cut much easier, but that's just me. |

I was the opposite. I found it really simple once I learned the basics. Plus Vegas costs much, much less. I do agree about downloading the free trials first. That goes for all of them though. |

Also, for a FREE 3D software package, I use myself, VERY powerful, best internet secret I have found!!
go to Blender.org This is a free 3D effect package paid by donations. Look at youtube vids for tutorials, I have an earlier version of Blender 2.49, and still rocks. Follow instructions to download, tons of tutorials to learn how to use. Need a good, fast computer to render final 3D effects. Here is a short tutorial (basic text) Tutorial |

Hollywood and TV Broadcasting- Avid and Cinema 4D software mostly used
But there are movies now being done with Adobe and Blender 3D effects. It sucks that Adobe is moving to the CC (Creative Cloud) for future software, charging monthly fees. But, I learned how to use Premiere and AAffects by tutorials online, very easy to learn. |

Corel bought out ULEAD a couple of years ago...but it's still probably your best bang-for-the-buck at about $50 when you catch it on sale.
Adobe Premier? Are you kidding me? It costs about a thousand $ and it's about as "user friendly" as AutoCad the last time I used it Sony Vegas is great too, IF you have $700 - $1000 to spend on software. I can't believe no one has mentioned AVID yet because it seems to be the choice of professional TV broadcast studios. I love arfcom...it's like they measure how big your dick is by whatever buzz words you can spout out and claim to have knowledge of...

Not internet searching buzz words, actually using. 2.) Avid was mentioned above. 3.) Adobe Premiere Pro CS6- $649 on Amazon 4.) Premiere was very easy to learn how to use with tutorials. 5.) Blender 3D- free. I use frequently. |
