Hey guys, got a question for you experts out there. I've got a fairly new gateway fx running an intel q9300 Cord 2 Quad (45nm), 4 gigs DDR2 800, GeForce 8800gt 512MB, but i'm staring to look into my upgrade options. I know the 680i chipsets from Nvidia don't support the 45nm chips from intel, so I'm going to go with the 780i northbridge. I wanted to use the processor, ram, and graphics card I already (and buy 2 more 8800 gt to run in tri-SLI ). I'm also going to buy a new case with a lot more air flow for cooling and a new power supply (probably 1000-1200w). I was planning on just using my current HDDs (already running in raid 0). My questing is.... is it as simple as putting the thing together in the new case and turning it on since I'm using the existing HDDs (which already have the operating system [vista 64bit] installed) or will there be a lot more to it? I appreciate the help.

You may be lucky, but my gut feeling is that you'll need to reinstall. As you're changing motherboard (and chipset), your existing RAID array may well not work on the new setup, and even if it boots, the difference between the chipsets quite often causes a BSOD on the first boot attempt . I don't think you can run Tri-SLI on 8800GT's either...

Are you using the RAID on the motherboard? If so you may get lucky if you upgrade to a MB with the same BIOS manufacturer. If you go to another it probably won't recognize the array.
