Over the last week I developed pain in the joint of my big toe. For the first few days it came and went, I could even run on it without pain but it would spontaneously hurt while sitting down.

Now I can't put any weight on the inside of my foot because of the pain.

I'm thinking turf toe, can't find anything that would lead me to believe it is a bunion.

Any other possibilities?
Anybody have similar experiences?
What is the healing time?

What kind of shoes are you running in. Are they good running shoes?

i could be wrong, but i always thought turf toe was when you strained the muscles on the underside of the toe(s).

New Balance shoes. Went to a running store, got  fitted, stride analysis, tried about 8 pair on and the whole 9 yards.

(I've run in sucky shoes and ended up with blisters everywhere , I'm not volunteering for that again. I don't think it is the shoes)

Off to google I go looking up gout.

It has mostly gone away and I can run and walk normally. Just a hint of pain now and then.

If it came an went, it really doesn't sound like turf toe, to me.

Could be gout.

Could be gout.

As I just had the joy of passing my first kidney stone yesterday, (a 2mm bundle of joy ) I shall be requesting the my doctor add one more test to my next blood test.

I suspect the stone was due to dehydaration as I ran 3 miles and was dressed too warm for it (lots of sweating), then gave blood, and didn't really ever recover hydration wise the day before I got the stone. My office is freezing cold so you don't ever think to drink anything.

I don't have any of the risk factors for gout as I'm not obese, I don't drink, and I have low blood pressure. I will get tested for it anyway.

Welcome to the wonderful world of kidney stones!  I passed my first this summer. 4mm at the widest.  Could have sworn it was about 4 inches.

If it's not an injury but came on without a noticeable cause, it could be this.. pain in the joint of the big toe.  How old are you?  This starts to appear in the 30's.  It's a form of arthritis that creates a bone spur.
