[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Trump Resonated in SC. (Page 1 of 5)

Trump's victory speech in SC was fantastic.
It was material and it resonates across the nation and across party lines. Currently Trump is more on message than either Cruz or Rubio and he sounded like a President of the United States. |
|
If Trump, Cruz, and Rubio had to run a general election using only their speeches from SC Trump would do well and the others would tank.
Trump is on message where as Cruz and Rubio sound like they are trying to find their footing. Seeing as Trump is the least experienced in politics I would have thought Cruz and Rubio would be more on message but in SC they weren't. |

Elections are about how people perceive you and your message and right now whether you like him or not you have to admit that he is looking strong not only for the nomination but for the general election. |

Rubio's speech was immaterial. Cruz's speech was not inspiring. Trump's speech was straight forward, to the point, material, and to a lot of Americans it was inspirational. Trump's message has been relatively simple but he has hammered it home and he has spread it with conviction and strength that the other candidates haven't been able to match. You can try and denigrate Trump and the people that vote for him but at this point in the race if you are a candidate who has run for and held public office before there is no excuse for losing out to Trump on message. |

Matt Walsh said it best: "Speaking of the country's demise, Trump fans are gleefully ushering in tyranny. I am tired of hearing about their "anger." They claim they are angry at the very thing they now embrace. They aren't angry. They're bored. They're immature. They're infatuated with celebrity and fame and money. They aren't angry. I'm angry about what they are doing to my nation. The rest of us can be angry, but these people have lost the right to have their anger taken seriously" http://reaganiterepublicanresistance.blogspot.com/2016/02/walsh-get-on-your-knees-and-pray-for.html |

I'm angry And so are the other Trump supporters I know |

When Trump debates Hillary on stage he will crush her, and the polls will swing in his favor dramatically. Sanders might be able to handle Trump's bombastic methods of attack, but Hillary comes unhinged when she is not treated with white kit gloves. Any time she has been grilled by Congress she loses it, because she can't tolerate someone disrespecting her authority. |

Yeah and he's playing to the naive and uninformed. I don't care how sincere he sounds, his past shows who he really is. He literally "changed" from a democrat to republican/conservative overnight. It's no different than if Feinstein announced she's seen the light and decided to run as a republican. Would anyone believe her? No they wouldn't. Every single person supporting trump is going to screw this country if they continue to support him. It's just crazy that anyone can believe he is a conservative and will follow through with anything he says. |

Calling people simpletons doesn't help Cruz or Rubio get on message. I was very disappointed in how off message they were tonight. Trump is on message and he clearly has what it takes to win a general election. Again, you believe anything he says given his stance on things in the past? Past meaning his entire life up until he decided he was a republican. |

Cruz and Rubio haven't been able to outplay it. You can try and micro analyze Trump but general elections are big picture and he is winning that view compared to Cruz or Rubio. I don't know how you could listen to the three of them and come to any other conclusion at least as far as what we saw in SC. |

Oh come on, look at this quote and tell me he isn't amazing, so alpha, so brilliant. “What’s your priority among our nuclear triad?”
Trump: “Well, first of all, I think we need somebody absolutely that we can trust, who is totally responsible; who really knows what he or she is doing. That is so powerful and so important. And one of the things that I’m frankly most proud of is that in 2003, 2004, I was totally against going into Iraq because you’re going to destabilize the Middle East. I called it. I called it very strongly. And it was very important. “But we have to be extremely vigilant and extremely careful when it comes to nuclear. Nuclear changes the whole ball game. Frankly, I would have said get out of Syria; get out — if we didn’t have the power of weaponry today. The power is so massive that we can’t just leave areas that 50 years ago or 75 years ago we wouldn’t care. It was hand-to-hand combat. |

Hopefully you are correct. I have not watched a single debate so far however I would pay to see hillary flip her shit and I think he has what it takes to make sanders look like an idiot. |

Trump's victory speech in SC was fantastic. It was material and it resonates across the nation and across party lines. Currently Trump is more on message than either Cruz or Rubio and he sounded like a President of the United States. AND YET 67 PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS VOTED AGAINST HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No 67% voted for their guy. |

He's "on message" alright.
It's just the matter of what message. Trump, more than anyone in recent memory, has exposed the lies of the Ricky Bobby faction of the Right. Had he been tailor-made by agents of the Clinton campaign to demolish opposition, he couldn't have been more effective. It's never been about limited government for them. It's always been just hostile reaction to government that is viewed as acting against their own pet interests. It's never been about free market principles for them, it's always been just hostile reaction to market forces that put them at a competitive disadvantage. It's never been about individual rights and liberty to them, it's always been about the feels of being told your interests and passions "trump" the rights of others. It's never been about "the Constitution" to them, the Constitution was always a prop and rhetorical tool to be used when convenient, and dismissed when not so. For them, it's never been a struggle for rationality and logic against the "feelz" based identity politics of the left. It's always been about getting their own sense of "feelz" tingling down their leg. It's no surprise that he was so successful in South Carolina - as the above reality goes back a long way in South Carolina politics. The only positive about the Trump campaign is how many Conservatives have stood in principled opposition to him and what he represents. |

Trump is the most experienced at bullshit and marketing his brand. That is a type of politics, just not the quality kind that advances the United States. |

I don't give a rat's ass if he is a "conservative". What does that even mean anymore? Must he be against gay marriage? against abortion? Where have the last 4 or 5 elections gotten us voting for "conservatives"? I know one thing about Trump, he is not a communist/hippie fuck and that is all that fucking matters anymore. Quoted:

Currently Trump is more on message than either Cruz or Rubio and he sounded like a President of the United States. and you actually believe anything he's saying? lol It's unbelievable that people fall for his lies. Try taking a look at his entire life and where he's stood on policy... He comes off as sincere and looking for solutions. People connect with that mentality. Elections are about how people perceive you and your message and right now whether you like him or not you have to admit that he is looking strong not only for the nomination but for the general election. Pro abortion, including late term. Pro assault weapons ban. Pro waiting period. Pro Obamacare. Pro eminent domain. Supporter of Clinton, Bloomberg, Reid, Emanuel, and deblasio. Voted for Obama. But not a hippie fuck! |

These same people who you are berating voted for the current crop of Republicans we have in D.C, including myself. I have voted "R" down the line every single time including the last time in 2014 In 2014 they ran on defunding Obamacare, stopping Obama's agenda And once they got in office what to they do? Fully fund Obamacare, fully fund the Democrat favored Omnibus spending bill, and give into Obama's every whim That is why you have Trump Quoted:

All they care about is staying in power. Look at the pathetic losers... I'll take the guy who can 'disassemble' them... No really, that was a rousing message and I think that you should contact the Rubio camp with it because if Rubio reads that on stage he will knock it out of the park and bring this thing home. |
Someone else did that.
