Donald Trump could run for president6/10/2010 9:00:00 AM Tycoon and TV star Donald Trump says he's seriously considering running for US president in 2012 because he doesn't like the direction the country's heading. Speaking on Fox News, Trump said America used to be respected, but if things kept going the way they were, the US would be easily overtaken by China. "For the first time im actually thinking about it. Over the years i've had many people talking to me speaking to me and writing to me and I see whats going on with this country, and its never been worse, what's happening is a disgrace," he said. "China is just ripping this country like they've never ripped us before ...You try doing business in china and its impossible. The problem is we don’t do anything anymore, we make it in China." Trump said if he were to run he'd do so as a Republican, meaning he'd be in direct opposition to current president Barack Obama. "I'm a Republican so if i did anyting id do it as a Republican. I'm totally being serious because i can't stand what is happening to this country...It's a big pay cut but i love this country," he said. Celebrities have long gravitated towards politics in the US, movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger is currently the 38th Governor of California and Ronald Reagan was also Governor of California and was US president for two years. |

Fiscal responsibility is his middle name, I'd vote for him. Sure - if you think three bankruptcies is a mark of fiscal responsibility. This. Plus, as much as Trump is out in the media spotlight, I just do not see him as a real candidate. I've never heard him speaking much on politics. There is no doubt he can make himself a brand name, but being President is more than building brand recognition. I'd love to hear what he thinks on the issues and not how crappy the country is right now. Everyone knows our country is in the crapper. How would he fix it? |

Interesting that he is testing the waters. He might be a formidable negotiator with congressional leaders, pro business, pro capitalism . . . but . . . how effective would he be in foreign policy, border and defense issues? By 2012 those may be far worse than they are now.
He will whip up some excitement and speculation but without some kind of government executive background for example, realistically, he doesn't have anything near all of the qualifications. We are currently seeing the results of that experiment . . . NEXT APPLICANT PLEASE! |

Never, even if he won the Republican primary. Same goes for Gingrich and Romney. If the RNC is serious and wants things to be more conservative, they'll give us actual conservatives in the primary. If not, the housecleaning should be deep and brutal to get our party back. That would take we, the people, being ever vigilant as to what those assholes in DC are doing and voting them the hell out when they start compromising principles.

I'd love to hear what he thinks on the issues and not how crappy the country is right now. Everyone knows our country is in the crapper. How would he fix it? In the interest of full disclosure, Trump is a business hero of mine. With that said:He actually wrote a book in the early late 90s called "The America We Deserve". If you ever read any of his books, and look past the "character" of Trump, you can see where he stands on many things. Most of the shady looking deals that he's done has been to limit damage. The people that work for him are an extension of his family. One of his VPs started out as his bodyguard, for example. On the other side, if it comes down to you and him, he'll pick himself everytime. Much the same way that none of us here want to go out and shoot someone, but if you make us decide, we Arfommers will be the ones heading to our own beds tonight. The only problem that I have with Trump is that he does seem to have some liberal tendencies, but I honestly couldn't tell you what they are right now. It's been too long since I've read any of his work to be able to quote them right now. All I can tell you is that it was disheartening to read. The best I can remember is that it could be chalked up to "White Guilt" or whatever it's being called this week. Would I vote for him? From a financial standpoint, I'd vote Chicago style and pull the lever a dozen times. Other aspects? I'll have to wait and see. |
