I keep seeing people bitching about Trump pardoning fraudsters. I don't see much else about it nor do I know the back story on these people. Anybody following this stuff?

Was it targeted enforcement due to political affiliation?

What should we know about this?

Trevor Milton is a piece o' shit con man.  Ross Ulbricht otoh founded the silk road.  How exactly did he accrue $183m in debt?  Fines?  As it turns out, an regardless of where the debt originated, the $183m was settled in a deal 4 years prior to the pardon when Ulbricht gave the DOJ $5BILLION in BtC as restitution for the $183m.  What else on that list is fucked up?

Does a criminal pardon from the president also pardon civil judgements and debts?

I had no idea this was even a thing and I'm skeptical that it's true.

The Milton deal is unbelievable.  Then his bro flys cool shit around and YouTube videos it and everyone laps it up. The whole thing might just be the greatest con job of all time on all levels…lol.

There’s a great podcast on it that WSJ did if anyone cares to know the story.  One that ends with a pardon in present time… helps when you can pay to play… right?

I don't think this list is the full list for Trump.

Saying but Obama or but Biden really doesn't matter.

Is Trump fucking over victims with these pardons or is there more at play.

so the premise here is that potus can pardon what I assume to be private debt?

or is this some type of criminal fines on federal crimes?

so either people are nearly unbelievably stupid or this is all normal and legal

It's lawfare. The charges are bullshit, the verdict is bullshit, the restitution is bullshit.

The pardon clears them of bullshit.

I am not a lawyer, but my understanding is that the president can only pardon Federal charges and would have no bearing on any civil judgements, state level charges, or private debts. So I'm not sure what mechanism Trump has used to supposedly pardon all these debts, or if the OP is even true.

He could probably direct some Federal agencies to drop fines/charges that stemmed from his pardons, but that's a separate action and independent of the pardon. It also wouldn't apply to any state level fines or civil judgements.

Here is one I just looked up.

Why does everyone here immediately dismiss information they don't agree with?

Instead of saying "Don't look at that, stay off Reddit, it's all fake garbage!!!" why not look up some of the names yourself?

In 2020, Milton resigned as executive chairman of Nikola following regulatory inquiries.[3][4] In 2022, he was found guilty of securities and wire fraud. He was sentenced to four years in prison, a US$1 million fine and $168 million in restitution.

Trevor Milton and his wife donated more than $3.2 million to Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign and figures in Trump's orbit. In March 2025, he was given a full pardon by President Donald Trump.[9][10] As a result of the pardon, Milton will not need to compensate Nikola shareholders, who lost tens of millions of dollars.[11] In September 2025, the SEC under the second Donald Trump administration dropped civil enforcement cases against Milton. As a consequence, Milton will not have to pay any civil penalties or face job restrictions, allowing him to work in security-related positions.[12]

No, people dismiss it because it's covert trolling. Hey guys, I saw this leftist propaganda and conspiracy being thrown around about Trump, is it true? That shit gets old and everyone sees right through it.

Why not just post what Trump said about it? Why post leftist wikipedia nonsense?

"President Donald Trump says he pardoned Utah billionaire Trevor Milton, the CEO of now-defunct hydrogen and electric truck firm Nikola, in part because he believed Milton was persecuted for supporting Trump’s political ambitions.

“This pardon is not just about me—it’s about every American who has been railroaded by the government, and unfortunately, that’s a lot of people,” Milton wrote.

and your retort is to quote Trump and Fox News? That is funny

Milton blatantly and knowingly lied to investors for years. He got caught and ordered by the court to make restitution. Politics had nothing to do with it.

Never said the guy was a saint or even deserved to be pardoned. Just posting what Trump had to say to give this thread some context other than orange man bad. It's clear Trump is pardoning people who he thinks have been targeted by a weaponized Department of Justice under Joe Biden. He even pardoned the Democrat in Texas.

But if it's easier to think it's some big conspiracy, then continue on.

It is not a conspiracy, it is simple buddy-buddy, pay for play pardoning that has been going on since Washington. Milton was a fraudster through and through who should be in jail and have his wealth stripped to payback investors.

Trump can lie about things, do stupid, or bad shit and still be miles better than Kamala or Biden or the rest of the "left."  In this case it is an obvious lie. There is no conceivable way that Trump doesn't know who Milton is and what he was involved in.  Just because you were convicted while the "left" was in office doesn't mean it was political. There was zero basis of a political bias. Milton is and was a fraud.

Backing anything Trump says regarding this is a fucking joke.

I support my president categorically, so if Trump pardons someone, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I certainly support Trump but not categorically. I would never support any politician categorically. Trump does a fair share of good, but also plenty of stupid or self-serving things as well.  It is part of the package that is Trump.

The very first name on the list, Ross Ulbricht is well known to have been railroaded. Trump ran on pardoning him. This is a case of promises made, promises kept.

Leftists are such tiresome hoaxers.

Bait.

The first guy on the list ran Silk Road. That’s probably the fine he no longer has to pay. Dude got 2 life sentences for running an online black market.

yeah I was going to post about something I saw a couple weeks ago regarding a judge or political person getting busted for something and it was mentioned that she oversaw the Christy deal resulting in their conviction
