Using Truecrypt 7.1 with Windows 8 on my new laptop. I encrypted a thumb drive with no issues. Now when I go to open the volume in Truecrypt, I get a Windows message saying the thumb drive needs to be formatted and when I cancel the message, the computer does not recognize the thumb drive. I tried getting rid of the drive letter assignment, but then I can't find it when I try to open the volume. Any ideas?

Technically BitLocker isn't compromised. It has a backdoor which is part of the product specs. So they built it that way on purpose.

I use it every day with Win8. It sounds like your drive became unformulated for some reason. You might try formatting it again and see what happens or try another drive. |

No motherfucker, you need to select a drive that you want and then click on select device, when a new window Pop up, select the usb drive as your device and then click okay. Then click on mount. Enter your password. And then you're done motherfucker. Respectfully yours. |

Oh I understand him just fine and is offering the solution but he isn't getting it. I'm pretty sure you don't know whqt the fuck to do either. When you encrypt a whole device, of course windows is not going to recognize it anymore and will ask you to format it. It doesn't matter if it's sindoss 8,7, or XP. IF you read the truecrypt FAQ it clearly stated this. |
