I'm bored so here goes.  The first person to guess how far the extractor from a 10/22 will fly when released from the bolt will win.....
absolutely nothing but the satisfaction of being a know-it-all.[:D]

1.74 to 3.86 feet depending on the location of the nearest crack/groove/hole it can fall through or get wedged into.

Luckily, there was no hole or crack.  Just a lot of brown carpet hiding a dark black extractor and spring guide.

I thought that was supposed to be a secret.

We might have to change the club handshake now.  I'm very disappointed. [;)]

Would a magnet work?  Or a vacuum cleaner with a new bag?

edited because my [;)] was a [;D]

Thanks for the suggestions but I found it pretty quickly after I realized it had not fallen at my feet.  The correct answer falls somewhere in between Hannah and your guesses.

Nope, further than that.

edited to add that Hannah was closer than I thought after I actually measured with a tape.

Therefore the winner is Hannah.  You now have the priveledge of being an official Know-it-all.

Why thank you!
I am the veteran of many a spring driven small parts hunt, and they always seem to go farther than I think they would.
I am honored, and will be the best Know-It-All I can be :)

I don't know on a 10/22 but I took the safety out of a Beretta 22 cal pistol once and the detent sprint mechanism went into orbit about the earth....so far it has not been seen since! Quess I may have to buy another.

That information is classified.
I could tell you - but then I'd have to kill you. [kill]

6'3" if on carpet 7'1" if on hard surface.

The actual results were that the extractor went 6 feet 11 inches and the spring guide went a little over 9 feet.
