Gots the 03 Impala...
runs fine and all but recently has trans issue.

goes down the road just fine, but.... when i come to a stop (like light/sign) and then go again it kinda clunks into gear.  once in gear, it works perfectly fine- no other signs of problems.
if i give it real light gas/flutter the gas a bit it will go without clunking

like i said, it works fine othere than that stop- then go clunk/ occasionl chudder.- (only during initial acceleration)

thoughts?  I did some interwebs searches and some people mention a certain valve buried way inside (remove drivers front suspension to get to it.)  Any pros know this one?

NOTE: no other clunks/chudder between any other gears

thx!

Yep, I'd check these and the exhaust system to see if it's loose somewhere and striking the undercarriage.

The revving up part sounds like the trans.

After my girlyfriends brake job last year, her brakes wouldn't release properly after coming to a stop and would make a clunking noise when she took off from a stop. Unless she gradually accelerated.
