Never really noticed this...

Went out to eat today and paid with my Visa check card...

The $2 tip didn't show up on my bank statement???

How do restaurants handle credit card tips?

You're looking at the authorization made prior to you entering the tip and signing. The real total will show up in a day or two.

At the end of the shift you "adjust" all slips before you total them out. Our machines total out each morning at 3 am, I find it weird that the full total hasn't shown up on your statement yet. Perhaps they adjust them every few days?

It was for lunch..I don't think the place has closed yet....
